Create a generative preview.
00:05
After completing this video, you'll be able to preview a generative solve
00:13
in fusion 360. Let's carry on with our internal combustion engine gen design setup.
00:18
At this point, we've created our design space,
00:21
added our design conditions to find our criteria
00:24
and added materials to each manufacturing method.
00:27
The next step in the process is to validate our
00:29
precheck to make sure we don't have any additional warnings
00:33
and then to solve our generative study.
00:36
A helpful step in this process can be to use the previewer which allows us to
00:40
preview the build area or volume that's going to be used for our generative solve.
00:45
While this is not a replacement for solving a generative study,
00:48
it can't help us double check that we made all of the correct selections.
00:53
For example,
00:53
if we omitted an obstacle that's going inside of one of these bolt hole locations,
00:58
we can see that on the preview and remedy this problem before we commit to a solve,
01:04
using the gear icon can help us toggle the detail level inside of our previewer.
01:09
We're going to be using the low detail level and allowing it to generate this volume.
01:14
It is also important to note that the previewer does not work in all instances.
01:20
There are cases where new functionality such
01:23
as remote loads and remote moments are added
01:26
and those will not currently work with the previewer.
01:28
So as you try to explore using the previewer, if you get a warning,
01:32
it will tell you exactly why it's not working.
01:35
It'll tell you that there's a functionality such as a remote load
01:38
or a remote moment that is preventing the previewer from working.
01:43
At this point.
01:44
We can see that it has a build volume, which means that we do have a correct setup.
01:49
We are able to start the generative study.
01:52
We can allow this to continue to generate if we wish.
01:55
But at this point, everything that we need to know is on the screen.
01:59
If we rotate around to a front view,
02:01
we can see that none of the material is building
02:04
inside of these openings where we have our obstacles.
02:07
So this tells me that everything is set up properly and I can stop the previewer
02:12
before we commit to a solve.
02:13
Let's double check our study settings to make sure
02:15
that everything is set where we want it.
02:18
We have the alternative outcomes checked.
02:20
And this allows us to explore a different solver
02:23
and potentially get different results in the background.
02:25
We also have our synthesis resolution
02:28
because this part is fairly small.
02:30
At this stage, I'm going to increase the synthesis resolution.
02:34
And the last option in here is called inertial relief.
02:37
This option to remove rigid body modes is helpful for under constrained objects.
02:44
However, all of the load cases still need to be balanced.
02:47
So we're not going to be using that in this case because
02:50
we used a fixed constraint on the bottom of our connecting rod
02:53
and we added our bearing load to the top.
02:56
So before moving on, let's make sure that we do save the design.
