sketch text.
00:05
After completing this video,
00:07
you'll be able to create sketch text and explode sketch text
00:12
Infusion 3 60. Let's get started with a new untitled document.
00:16
We're gonna be exploring how to create and use text and sketches.
00:20
So we want to get started by creating a new sketch
00:24
with a new sketch created. We want to create a few sketch entities.
00:28
First I'm going to create a line
00:30
and it would just create the line at an angle,
00:32
zoom out a little bit
00:34
and let's create a spline.
00:37
Just go ahead and add three points to the spline
00:40
And one more time we want to create an arc and I'm gonna go
00:44
ahead and zoom out a little bit more and create an arc down here.
00:50
That escape to get off of our sketch tools.
00:52
Next we're going to go to create and select text
00:56
when we create text. This can be done either inside of a text box or along a path.
01:02
So first let's simply create a small text box
01:07
inside of my sample text section.
01:09
I'm just going to simply type in box note that we have control over the font,
01:14
the typeface, the height, the character spacing.
01:18
Whether or not we flip if we align it inside of the box and we can say, okay,
01:24
let's go ahead and repeat that process.
01:27
But this time instead of using the box option, let's do text on a path.
01:31
This time I'm going to do on line,
01:36
I'm going to increase the text height to 25 mm and we'll say, Okay,
01:42
let's repeat this one more time for this.
01:44
I'm going to use my right click marking menu and select repeat text.
01:48
We're going to select this spline as our path
01:51
and notice that the text is aligned
01:54
for sample text. I'm going to simply say on spline
01:58
Using the same default values.
01:59
But this time I'm going to increase the character spacing and I'm going
02:02
to say 1.0 and it gives it a little bit more space.
02:07
One more time. I'm going to right click repeat and I'm going to select my arc
02:12
and this one is going to simply be on arc
02:15
this time my character spacing is going to be
02:17
to giving it just a little bit more space.
02:20
And I'm going to italicize it now that we have all
02:23
these different text entities will note that as we select them,
02:27
they're going to be one single selection
02:30
the Arcs,
02:31
the split lines and the lines aren't really needed so we can
02:35
change them to construction since they won't be used for any of our
02:39
text creation. This can also be done with X on the keyboard
02:44
but now we need to think about what we want to do with the text.
02:47
If we simply want to extrude it either to remove it from a solid or to add it to a solid.
02:53
We can finish and we can simply select extrude.
02:56
For example online I can pull up and create solid geometry.
02:60
I can do this with on spline on arc as well as the box.
03:05
But there is something else that we can do with text.
03:08
So for now let's go ahead and expand this and note that
03:11
each of these has created one single solid body for each letter
03:15
and also note that the sketch has been hidden automatically.
03:18
Let's create one more new sketch.
03:20
I'm going to select a different sketch plane and I'm going
03:23
to go to create text and just draw a text box
03:29
here. We're gonna call this one
03:31
explode.
03:33
Once I say, okay, if I select the text and right click,
03:36
we get the option to explode the text exploding the text.
03:40
Takes it from a graphic to now each entity is
03:44
going to be an individual line arc or spline.
03:48
You'll notice with rounded letters such as the P.
03:51
We have a lot of different arcs here.
03:53
Now these can't necessarily be adjusted or pulled but we
03:58
do have control over what we do with them.
04:01
For example, if we wanted to go to create
04:04
select an ellipse and we wanted to change the inside of the letter P.
04:08
We could use an ellipse
04:11
to recreate the inside of the P.
04:14
And we can double click on this and convert it to construction,
04:18
making that entire thing.
04:19
Construction means that the new ellipse that we created is
04:23
going to be the new center of that letter.
04:26
Now this could be done not only to just change the way the inside of the letters work,
04:30
but we can also do things to say connect letters together.
04:34
If we wanted to create a spline that went from here up to here,
04:41
we could use constraints such as tangent C between this
04:44
edge and the spline and this edge and the spline
04:47
can hit escape.
04:48
I can delete the spline point and now we can work with our text,
04:52
creating a more unique version of that text.
04:56
So when working with text,
04:57
if you want to use the individual entities converted from the text,
05:02
you need to select and explode it.
05:04
But if you simply want to extrude it or use it as a solid feature,
05:08
then you can simply just use the text as it gets created
05:12
for this example, we're not going to be reusing text.
05:15
So you can decide whether or not you want to save it for me.
05:18
I'm going to go ahead and just save it as text into
05:21
my sketching folder and then move on to the next step.
00:02
sketch text.
