A steady state model can help you examine one time step of your
00:06
hydraulic system to better understand how it behaves over a period of time.
00:12
However,
00:12
you can also set up a simulation that covers a
00:15
length of time such as a 24 hour simulation.

An extended period simulation or E P S is a modeling run that

evaluates system hydraulics for a duration greater
00:26
than a single hydraulic time step.

00:34
The first step is to configure the time options for your

EPS
00:39
to begin,
00:40
double click the desired project dot APR file to open
00:44
Agis Pro.
00:46
Once the project starts,
00:48
click the info water pro tab to open the info water pro ribbon
00:53
in the project panel, click initialize
00:58
next, create a new simulation
01:01
in the model explorer on the operation tab, expand simulation time
01:06
and then double click base base simulation time
01:12
in the simulation time dialog box, click new
01:16
and then enter the new ID as PS extended period simulation.
01:23
Click OK.
01:25
Back in the simulation time, dialogue deselect the steady state setting
01:30
in the table that appears ensure that the duration is set to 24.
01:36
Next change the decimal time value for quality time step to 0.1000.
01:44
This is because the hydraulic time step for this exercise is one hour and the
01:49
quality time step should be 1/10 of the hydraulic time step or 0.1 hours.
01:55
You can leave the other values in the
01:57
table set to their defaults for this simulation.
02:01
Close the simulation time dialogue.
02:05
This time setting may now be used for a 24 hour analysis
02:08
for any scenario for this model via selection from the run manager.

An extended period simulation, or EPS, is a modeling run that evaluates system hydraulics for a duration greater than a single hydraulic timestep. InfoWater Pro provides many tools for customizing an EPS, and the first step is to configure the time options for it.
Create a new simulation:
Because the hydraulic timestep for this exercise is 1 hour, the quality timestep should be 1/10th of the hydraulic timestep or 0.1 hours.
This time setting may now be used for a 24-hour analysis for any scenario for this model via selection from the Run Manager.
