Once you have a set of results and a ground model loaded onto the GeoPlan, you can create a flood section window.
00:10
This cross section view displays the ground level, which ICM interpolates from the ground model;
00:16
and water levels, which ICM calculates from the water surface generated in river reaches, storage areas, and 2D meshes.
00:24
To start, from the File menu, select Open>Open transportable database.
00:30
Open the folder where you downloaded the files for this exercise and select the .icmt file.
00:36
Click Open.
00:37
If a popup displays about opening the database as read-only, click Yes.
00:44
Right-click the top-level folder and select Copy.
00:47
When the popup displays, click Continue.
00:50
In the Explorer window, right-click the Database and select Paste (with children).
00:56
In the Copying popup, enable Copy simulation results and Copy ground models.
01:02
Click Continue.
01:03
Open 2D Dam Breach on the GeoPlan to ensure the model opens with the simulation results applied.
01:10
To create a flood section window, in the GeoPlan Tools toolbar, select the New Section View tool.
01:17
Use the mouse to adjust the view of the 2D River Model, so you can see the end where the water flows in.
01:23
On the GeoPlan, click near the inflow boundary,
01:26
and then draw a segmented line in the direction of flow, clicking three more times as you extend the line.
01:32
A section window is created and displays the ground level and water levels.
01:38
The water level appears as steps due to calculations made by ICM.
01:43
You can use the progress bar or the Replay Control toolbar to view the water levels at different times in the simulation.
01:50
For example, at around the 00:23:00 point, you can see that a bit of a pool is forming at the small ridge,
01:56
but by 00:28:00, it starts to fill up behind it.
02:01
If needed, you can export a flood section window to AutoCAD.
02:04
To do this, right-click the window and select Export to AutoCAD DWG.
02:11
To close the section window, right-click the 2D River Model flood section tab and select Close tab.
