In modeling water supply systems demand analysis ensures the correct amount

of water is available to specific areas within a supply network.

With info
00:13
works W S pro you can add new nodes and objects
00:16
to existing models to simulate demand needs for future developments.
00:21
With the session five dot WPT copied into your database,
00:25
open the bridge net GEO plan and create a new scenario named housing development.
00:30
With this scenario created,
00:32
you can now add a new network representing a
00:34
future housing development to an existing pipe within the network
00:39
to locate an existing pipe to link a new network.
00:41
Two from the toolbar, select find network objects
00:46
in the network, find dialogue,
00:48
match identifier section.
00:50
Ensure asset is toggled on
00:54
then from the list tree select links
00:58
in the wildcard field, enter the string associated with a known pipe.
01:03
In this case, the pipe object string is 106 9656
01:10
under matched objects, select the string
01:12
and then click, select and find
01:16
close the network, find dialogue
01:19
back in the GEO plan.
01:20
The pipe is selected and the view is zoomed into the location of the pipe
01:26
to ensure the model is accurate allocating
01:28
demand to nodes throughout the network is essential
01:33
to create a node for the new demand
01:35
from the toolbar. With nodes selected from the drop down. Click new object.
01:41
Next in the GEO plan pick a spot south of the highlighted pipe.
01:47
The create new node dialogue displays
01:50
in the ID field name the node using descriptive language
01:54
that will be easy to reference in the future.
01:56
For example, development
01:59
click OK.
02:02
Now you can link this new node to the existing pipe
02:06
from the toolbar, expand the new object dropdown,
02:10
select link
02:11
and then click new object
02:15
because this is a simulation of a planned pipe.
02:18
The connection link should be identifiable from the existing network.
02:21
So in this example, a zigzag line will be used to represent the link
02:27
in the GEO plan,
02:28
draw a zigzag link connecting a node from a node
02:31
on the previously selected pipe to the newly created node.
02:36
As soon as you connect the zigzag link to the node,
02:39
the create new link dialogue displays
02:42
select OK to confirm the link creation
02:45
because this new pipe is a simulation.
02:47
The properties of the pipe are somewhat arbitrary
02:51
from the pipe object properties pane under shape
02:54
in the length field,
02:56
enter one
02:57
and then in the diameter field enter 200
03:01
next
03:02
set the friction coefficient 20.1.
03:07
You will also need to configure the properties of the newly created node
03:11
such as setting the elevation which is needed for the model to run
03:16
again because this is a simulation and there is no known elevation.
03:20
You can use existing elevation values from a previously existing node
03:26
from the toolbar select properties.
03:28
And in the GEO plan select the node from the existing pipe
03:33
from the node object properties pa
03:35
under location,
03:37
copy the elevation value
03:39
back in the GEO plan,
03:41
select the new node and from the property's pane under location,
03:45
paste the value into the new nodes, elevation field.
03:50
You have now successfully added a new network to an existing one,
03:55
adding networks by creating new objects
03:57
and linking them with existing objects allows
03:60
you to begin the process of simulating
04:02
hypothetical demand needs of future developments.

In modeling water supply systems, demand analysis ensures the correct amount of water is available to specific areas within a supply network. In InfoWorks WS Pro, adding new nodes and objects to existing models simulates demand needs for future developments. An example is adding a new network representing a future housing development to an existing pipe within a network.
First, create a new scenario:
Next, locate an existing pipe to which to link a new network:
Notice in the GeoPlan, the view is zoomed into the location of the pipe, which is highlighted in red.
Note: To ensure the model is accurate, it is essential to allocate demand to nodes throughout the network.
To create a node for the new demand:
To link the new node to the existing pipe:
Note: Because this is a simulation of a planned pipe, the connection link should be identifiable from the existing network, so in this example, a zig-zag line will be used to represent the link.
Note: Because this new pipe is a simulation, the properties of the pipe are somewhat arbitrary.
To configure the properties of the newly created node, such as setting the elevation, which is needed for the model to run. Again, because this is a simulation and there is no known elevation, you can use existing elevation values from a previously existing node.
Adding networks by creating new objects and linking them with existing objects begins the process of simulating hypothetical demand needs of future developments.
