In this lesson, we’ll walk you through where you can see your assigned tasks, and how you can access the necessary information and items to complete the task.
In this video, we look at where you can find your assignments and how you can action them, all without leaving the CAD plugin.

In this video we look at where you can find your assignments and how you can address them,
00:08
all without leaving the CAD plugin.
00:12
So, let's take a look.
00:15
You might be aware that your team leads or project managers can create and assign tasks to you
00:21
from the web application.
00:22
These tasks might come from the Project Management section as project tasks, or they may be part of an Investigation Request.
00:31
Other tasks may be generated from other business processes such as change requests, or quality assurance processes.
00:40
A project task is one that is created in the Project Management section of the web application and generally forms part of the overall project plan.
00:52
An Investigation Request is sometimes used to initiate the change process and promote discussions within the organization or with partners.
00:60
They can also be used to simply assign work to other team members,
01:03
and can be created directly from an item for easier understanding of what needs to be done.
01:09
Look for Investigation Requests in the Upchain help for more information.
01:15
In the CAD plugin, you can find your assignments in two places.
01:19
In My Workspace, in the My Assignments section, this gives you a cross project view of all assignments that you have.
01:26
You can see that these two tasks come from two different projects, Drone 108 and Drone 110.
01:35
You can also find tasks from a specific project.
01:42
In the My Assignments section of the project, the summary is on the dashboard, and the full list can be found in My Assignments.
01:51
These assignments can be a combination of project tasks, Investigation Requests, or other tests generated from other business processes.
01:58
From your perspective, the task type doesn't matter so much,
02:02
what matters is that you have been assigned work that must be completed.
02:11
In the My Assignments tab of a project, you can see the full list of tasks you have been assigned, at the top.
02:18
This view also sorts the tasks based on task status and whether the task is a subtask of a work order,
02:26
including Investigation Requests, Change Requests, and Change Notices.
02:32
When you click on a task, the lower pane displays information about that task,
02:38
including who created the task, what the status of the task is, the priority of the task...
02:53
and some information about its duration.
03:01
There will also typically be buttons to update the status of the task or progress its workflow if it has one.
03:11
The lower pane also has a Documents tab,
03:14
where you'll find any documentation that the creator of the task may have associated with the task to help in the completion of it.
03:23
In particular for this Investigation Request, you'll find additional information and documentation in the General documents tab.
03:33
For instance, if this was generated from the markup of a PDF,
03:37
you'll find the PDF document here or you can download it and use that to work off of.
03:43
This means that you can access all documentation from here without needing to leave the plugin,
03:48
to be able to refer to that document to complete the task.
03:53
For tasks that were associated with an item, you'll see it listed in the Items folder beneath the task,
03:59
where you can then right click on it to download it directly from here.
04:06
This means, again, you don't have to leave this section of the CAD plugin to be able to find what it is you are assigned to work on.
04:15
In the subsequent videos, we'll address some of these tasks to demonstrate what the flow would look like.
