Review and modify the Space schedule

Review and modify the Space schedule - Exercise

  1. We start by opening the practice file, Small Medical Center Analysis Refining 01.rvt.
  2. In the Project Browser, navigate to schedules and open the Space schedule.

  3. There are 2 calculating parameters that will compare the differences between Specified, Calculated, and Actual Supply Airflow cfm values.

  4. Specified vs Calculated is simply subtracting Specified from Calculated.

  5. Actual vs Calculated is subtracting Calculated from the Actual airflow.

  6. We will use these to show, for example, where the design requirements or "Specified Supply Airflow" did not match the analysis results or "Calculated Supply Airflow".
  7. To accomplish this, we will add a conditional formula to the "Specified" and "Calculated" parameters.
  8. Highlight the Space schedule again.

  9. On the Properties box, select the Formatting tab.
  10. On the right, select "Conditional Format" button.

  11. Scroll down and highlight "Specified Supply Airflow" parameter.
  12. On the right, select the Conditional Format… button.
  13. Drop the Fields arrow down and select "Specified vs Calculated".
  14. Set the test to "Not Between".
  15. Set the "Values" to -50 cfm and +50 cfm.
  16. Select the Background Color to a light red.

  17. This will stand out nicely in the schedule view.

  18. Go back to the Formatting tab and select "Calculated Supply Airflow".
  19. On the right, select "Conditional Format" button.
  20. Drop the Fields arrow down and select the newly created calculating parameter "Actual vs Calculated".
  21. Set the test to "Not Between".
  22. Set the "Values" to -10 cfm and +10 cfm.
  23. Select the Background Color to a maybe light orange.

  24. OK to continue all the way out.

  25. Again, notice the highlighted fields reflecting the differences between Calculated and Actual airflows.
  26. One, in particular, has a value already within that tolerance we set up earlier.
  27. You can also duplicate this process to highlight any differences between other parameters.
  28. If any of the design requirements differ from the analysis results, the spaces in question will be highlighted in the two color choices.
  29. This will show us if we over specified anywhere by the highlighted fields.
  30. Remember, you can keep this schedule as an internal design check, create a duplicate and hide those calculating parameters being used for your conditional formulas in the projects schedule for the printed sheet.
  31. Review the space schedule making sure no highlighted fields appear.
  32. Click OK to continue.
