Resizing the mechanical equipment - Exercise
- Open the file, Medical Center Analysis Refining 03.rvt.
- To help in resizing your mechanical equipment, we need to compare the total "Calculated" and "Actual" airflows to the units "Maximum Allowable CFM" type parameter.
- Open the Space schedule and make a note the totals for Calculated and Actual Supply Airflow.
- They equal 1775 and 1044 cfm respectively.
- Open the mechanical equipment schedule and note the "Maximum Allowable CFM" for the current unit.
- Go to the 01 Ground Floor HVAC floor plan and select the air handling unit.
- Zoom in to your scope of work area.
- Select the AHU for that zone.
- Go to your Properties tab and select Edit Type.
- Scroll down to the Mechanical – Flow category.
- Make note of the current value.
- The "Maximum Allowable CFM" is not enough to supply the zone and its spaces.
- Click OK to continue.
- Drop down your type selector and choose Unit Size 54.
- Select Edit Type.
- Note the Max Allowable CFM value is set to 2000 cfm.
- Click OK to continue back to the view.
- Review the mechanical schedule to make sure the Maximum Airflow CFM has changed.
- Save the project.
