Creating tolerance features - Exercise
- Open the Gear-Housing-Tolerance.ipt part file from your working folder.
- Activate the Annotate tab from the Inventor ribbon.
- From the Annotate tab>Geometric Annotations panel – select Tolerance Feature.
- Click on the top face of the model (as shown) and click the green checkmark.
- Click again to place the Flatness tolerance feature on plane.
- Confirm that the tolerance value is 0.08 and click the green checkmark to confirm.
- From the Annotate tab>Geometric Annotations panel – select Tolerance Feature.
- Click on the 1.75" hole on the model (as shown) and click again to place the Perpendicularity tolerance feature on plane.
- Confirm that the tolerance value is 0.05 and click the green checkmark to confirm.
- From the Annotate tab>Geometric Annotations panel – select Tolerance Feature.
- Click on the 1.547" hole on the model (as shown) and click again to place the Positional tolerance feature on plane.
- Double-click on the Ø.08 value from the Feature Control Frame.
- Use the drop-down menu to add a Maximum Material Condition modifier symbol after the positional tolerance value.
- Click on the Add Segment button.
- Confirm the value for the Perpendicularity tolerance is 0.05".
- Click the green checkmark to confirm.
- Save and Close the model.
