in this video you'll learn how to create and edit detailed groups.
00:08
To expedite the detailing process.
00:12
You'll also see how to create attached detail groups for model groups
00:17
to quickly tag elements in model groups
00:28
When you are creating details you may have the same
00:32
detailed components that need to be placed in multiple details.
00:37
When that's the case,
00:38
you can create a detailed group and then
00:42
quickly place that detailed group in multiple details.
00:46
Let's take a look at how this works
00:49
to create a detailed group switched to the modify tab.
00:54
Then in the create panel click create group.
00:60
This opens the create group dialogue where you can
01:03
name the group and choose the group type.
01:07
I'll name this group
01:09
wall detail
01:13
for the group type. I'll select detail
01:17
since will be adding detailed components.
01:21
Then I'll click OK
01:24
rev it goes into edit group mode
01:27
and you can begin by adding detailed components.
01:31
Pay attention to When I click add.
01:36
When I do the detailed components in the view highlight.
01:41
Let's say that we just need the brick and insulation along with the brake lines.
01:49
I can simply select those components
01:52
and pay attention to the fact that when I select them they dim in the view
01:59
indicating that they are now part
02:01
of the detail group.
02:04
Remember you only want to select the components
02:07
that you will be placing
02:09
multiple instances of
02:12
and once you have them selected
02:14
you can click finish.
02:17
Now when I move the cursor over one of the components that I selected
02:22
the tool tip says detail groups
02:25
and when I click to select it
02:28
those components highlight
02:30
and now we can see what is a part of the group.
02:34
Additionally you can see the origin
02:37
and you can click and drag to adjust the origin of the group.
02:42
This is also going to be the insertion point of
02:45
the group when you are going to be placing additional instances
02:51
so you want to place it in a location
02:53
that works for your group.
02:57
Additionally,
02:59
if you need to add additional detailed components or even remove components,
03:04
you can select the group
03:06
and then click edit group on the contextual ribbon tab.
03:11
When you do rev it goes back into edit group mode
03:15
and then you can either click add or remove.
03:19
For example I'll click remove
03:22
and then I will remove a couple of the brake lines
03:26
and then I'll click finish.
03:29
Now those brake lines are no longer a part of the group
03:34
at this point we can place our detailed group in additional
03:40
details.
03:41
For example, let's say we had a drafting view.
03:44
If we go to the view tab and then in the create panel click drafting view
03:50
and we'll accept the default values and click OK.
03:54
And then on the annotate tab
03:57
in the detail panel
03:59
you can expand the detailed group button
04:02
and click place detailed group
04:06
and then you can simply click
04:08
in the view
04:10
and the detailed group will be placed.
04:13
I'll click modify to in the command
04:15
and then I'll zoom in
04:17
and now we can see the detailed components that we had
04:21
added from the other detail are now here in the drafting view
04:26
and we can begin a new detail.
04:30
If you had additional detail views
04:33
from sections or call outs, you could also place the detailed group in those views.
04:40
Alright, switching gears. Let's take a look at
04:44
attached detail groups.
04:47
When I opened the level one floor plan view
04:50
and I zoom into one of the model groups.
04:53
You can see that
04:55
the components in the model group have been tagged
04:59
now they were tagged individually
05:02
and you could do the same thing in the other groups.
05:05
But if you want to quickly tag all of those elements in the group
05:09
you can create an attached detail group
05:13
to do that. I will select all of these tags.
05:17
I'm going to filter out the model group and then click OK.
05:21
And now I just have the four Tags selected
05:25
on the contextual ribbon tab in the create panel.
05:30
I'll click create group
05:33
and when I do we get the create model
05:36
group and attached detail group dialogue and rev it recognizes
05:42
that we are creating an attached detail group for the
05:46
model group that those tags are tagging elements in.
05:51
So I will name this attached detail group, temporary office tags
06:01
and then I'll click OK.
06:04
And now we can see the attached detail group and it's indicated by a paperclip icon.
06:13
Now
06:14
in order to use that attached detail group, we can select additional model groups.
06:20
And when we do there is an attached
06:23
detail groups button on the contextual ribbon tab.
06:27
And when I click that
06:28
we get the attached detail group placement dialog.
06:32
And now we can choose the attached detail group. We just created
06:37
be aware that you can actually have multiple attached detail groups for a
06:41
model group and then you could simply select it in this list.
06:45
And click OK.
06:47
You can also select multiple model groups at once
06:52
and then click attached detail groups
06:55
and select the attached detail group you want. And click OK.
06:59
So as you can see,
07:01
we have quickly placed tags on the elements in
07:05
those model groups by using attached detail groups.
07:11
Lastly in the project browser.
07:13
When you scroll down to the bottom,
07:15
you can see the group's branch and you
07:17
can expand the group's branch if it's collapsed
07:21
and you can see the detailed branch as well as a model branch.
07:27
And if you have an attached detail group,
07:29
you can actually expand the model group and then
07:33
see any attached detail groups that you have.
07:36
So the project browser is a great place to see the groups that you have in your project
