in this video, you'll learn how to create design options sets and design options.
00:12
You'll also see how to control the elements in the design options
00:16
and create dedicated views for the design options.
00:29
Design options allow you to consider multiple
00:32
design alternatives in the same rabbit project,
00:37
we'll take a look at a simple example here
00:41
to begin on the manage tab.
00:44
In the design options panel, you can click design options or on the status bar.
00:52
There's also a design options button and some other design options controls.
00:58
When design options are active,
01:01
clicking design options, opens the design options dialog
01:06
first, you need to create an option set
01:10
So under option set I'll click new.
01:13
An option set is the area of the building where
01:17
you are going to have a multiple design alternatives.
01:21
You don't necessarily want to have entire buildings in an option set.
01:26
You just want to have specific areas of a building.
01:29
For example, we'll take a look at different entryway design options here.
01:37
When you select an option set,
01:40
you can then create new design options.
01:44
So I'll click new under option
01:46
and now I have options set one
01:50
and I can rename it. I'll click rename
01:53
and I'll change the name to entry
01:57
and then I'll click OK.
01:59
And now we have an option one and an option
02:02
to and you can also rename the design options.
02:07
So right now option one is the primary option
02:11
and I will click close to close the design options dialog and now we can see the
02:18
other controls are active on the status bar as well as in the design options panel.
02:26
The first thing I'm going to do
02:28
is select the wall here at the top and then switch to
02:33
the managed ribbon and I'm going to click add to set.
02:38
And the reason is because I'm going to be modifying
02:41
this wall
02:42
as I'm looking at the different design options,
02:46
this opens the add two design options,
02:49
set dialogue and I can choose the design options set here in the drop down.
02:54
In this case we just have one
02:56
and then I can choose the design options
02:59
that I want to add the wall too.
03:02
So I'm gonna leave both of them selected and then click OK
03:07
next I'm going to change the active design option to option one
03:12
and I can do that here in the design options panel or on the status bar.
03:18
Now I can model
03:20
and add elements that are a part of this design option.
03:25
So I'm simply going to create a few walls
03:28
and ai will create a rectangular style entry.
03:34
I'm not gonna pay too close attention to the exact dimensions
03:38
but I am going to split this wall
03:41
and then use the trim extend to corner to clean up these walls
03:47
and then I'll click modify in the command and now I have the design option one entry.
03:55
I'll switch back to the manage tab and now I will change the active design option two,
04:02
option 2.
04:04
Next I will model a wall for option two.
04:08
This time I'm going to use the start end radius arc tool
04:16
and once again I will clean up
04:18
the wall corners here
04:26
and then I'll click modify to in the command.
04:30
Now when I switch between
04:33
the design options you can see the alternative designs that we have modeled
04:41
additionally, we can create dedicated views for each design option.
04:47
For example,
04:48
I will duplicate level one.
04:50
I'm going to select duplicate view, duplicate
04:54
and then I'm going to rename it,
04:57
I'm going to rename it level one, option 1
05:05
And I'll rename
05:07
the other one
05:09
to level one. Option 2.
05:18
Now for option one,
05:20
I will open the visibility graphic overrides dialog and since
05:24
we are using design options there's now a design options,
05:28
tap
05:29
and for the option one view,
05:32
I will set the design option two, option one
05:36
and then I'll switch to the option to view
05:40
And I'll set the design option two, option 2 and then click. OK,
05:47
now we have two views for one view for each design
05:53
option and we could continue by creating sheets and placing the
05:56
views on sheets if you needed to create some type of
06:01
output where you're going to be presenting these design options.
06:05
But as you can see you can control the active design option to see what's visible
06:11
and then you can even choose the view and have a dedicated design option in each view
06:21
at some point you need to arrive at your final design and you
06:25
can go into the design options dialog and make that design option.
06:30
The primary design option, for example, if we decide to go with option two,
06:36
what we can do is so we're actually editing option one.
06:40
So I'm going to click finish editing and then we
06:43
can select option two and under option click make primary
06:49
And it is now the primary design option,
06:51
you'll likely get a warning because there's
06:54
a closer relationship between the primary design option
06:59
and the main model that we can dismiss that warning by clicking in the dialogue.
07:05
And then once we're ready to accept the primary design option,
07:09
we can select the option set and then click accept primary under option set.
07:16
And what that's going to do is it's actually going to delete all
07:20
secondary options in the design options set as you can see here.
07:25
So I'll click accept primary.
07:28
And we're also going to get a dialogue stating that we can delete the dedicated
07:35
design option views and we can make sure that's selected and then click delete.
07:40
And now we are no longer using design options since we just had the one set.
07:45
So we can click close. And now that primary design option is a part of our main model
