In this video,
00:06
you'll learn how to create and edit browser
00:09
organization schemes to help organize the project browser.
00:14
You'll also see how to search the project browser.
00:26
The project browser is essential to every rit
00:29
project.
00:31
This is where you can access the various views, legends schedules and quantities
00:37
and sheets in your project.
00:40
So it's important that it's properly organized so
00:44
that you can quickly access what you need to
00:48
first off, be aware that the branches can be expanded and collapsed
00:53
and pay attention to
00:55
the
00:57
text and parentheses next to views schedules, quantities and sheets.
01:03
This indicates the browser organization scheme
01:07
that is being used for that specific branch.
01:12
For example, next to views,
01:14
you can see by level and that is the scheme that is being used
01:19
to organize the views branch.
01:22
And when you select it,
01:24
you can see it in the type selector.
01:26
And you can also expand the type selector and choose
01:30
another organization scheme.
01:32
For example, when I select all
01:35
and then expand the views branch,
01:37
we can see that there's a slight update.
01:41
And if I change it to another one such as not on sheets,
01:45
then we can see it update again.
01:47
And if I select phase,
01:50
we can see that there's another update.
01:53
So once again, you can simply select the branch
01:55
and then control the scheme in the type selector.
01:60
You can also create your own browser organization schemes.
02:05
When you switch to the view tab
02:07
and then in the windows panel, expand the user interface button,
02:12
you can click browser organization
02:15
to open the browser organization dialog.
02:18
As you can see there's a views tab as well as a sheets tab and a schedules tab.
02:25
Those are the three branches that can
02:28
use a browser organization scheme.
02:32
You can select the check box next to one of the schemes and click apply.
02:37
And that will also update the scheme that is being used
02:41
when you select one and click edit
02:43
it opens the browser organization properties dialogue
02:47
and you can take a closer look at how that scheme is being defined.
02:53
There's a filtering tab
02:55
as well as a grouping and sorting tab.
02:60
I'll click cancel to close the dialogue
03:03
and then with the views tab active, I'll click new.
03:07
I'm going to name this one
03:09
discipline
03:11
and level
03:16
and then I'll click. OK.
03:19
When I do this opens the browser organization properties dialogue
03:24
on the filtering tab, you can choose to filter
03:28
the views by a specific parameter.
03:32
And so this would actually filter some to where some do not even appear.
03:36
I'm going to leave it set to none
03:38
and then I'll switch to the grouping and sorting tab,
03:42
I'm going to choose to group by the discipline
03:47
and then by the level,
03:51
which in this case is the associated level.
03:54
And then for the third, then by,
03:56
I'll choose family and type.
04:00
And as you can see, there are additional, then buy options.
04:04
And under each one,
04:05
you can choose to use either all characters or leading characters.
04:11
And when you select leading characters, you can choose how many characters
04:15
you wish to display.
04:18
I'm gonna leave it set to all characters.
04:21
And lastly
04:23
at the bottom, you can choose how to sort,
04:26
you can sort by family, family and type phase, detail level view, template,
04:32
associated level view, scale or view name.
04:36
I'm going to leave it set to view name
04:38
and also ascending. But if you wanted, you could switch it to descending
04:45
next, I'll click. OK?
04:46
And now we have a new browser organization scheme.
04:50
I'm going to select it
04:52
and then click. OK.
04:55
And now you can see under views, there are
04:59
two branches,
05:01
architectural and co ordination,
05:03
which are the two
05:06
view disciplines that are being used.
05:08
And then when I expand each one, you can see the levels.
05:13
So this is a custom browser organization scheme that we could use
05:18
when you see question marks,
05:20
that means that those views do not meet the browser criteria.
05:26
So for example, our 3d views, elevations and sections,
05:31
they do not have an associated level.
05:34
Therefore,
05:35
they only appear under the discipline but then they don't have an associated level.
05:40
So there's a question mark
05:42
also be aware that you can create a project parameter
05:48
to use for a browser organization scheme.
05:52
For example, I'll switch to the manage tab
05:55
and in the settings panel, I'll click project parameters
05:59
and then I'll click new parameter
06:02
and I will name it browser organization.
06:10
And I'm going to leave the discipline set to common
06:14
the type of parameter. I'm going to change it to text
06:17
and I'll choose to group it under other.
06:22
And then I'm going to leave it set to instant.
06:25
And for the categories,
06:27
I will select views
06:30
and I'll go ahead and select sheets as well.
06:32
You could apply it to your sheets
06:35
and then I'll click. OK?
06:37
And I'm going to simply click OK to close each of these dialogues.
06:43
And then I'll deselect everything so that the view properties appear.
06:48
And now when I scroll down
06:50
to other, I can see browser organization
06:53
and we could enter
06:55
numerical values or really anything that we
06:59
wanted to for the browser organization.
07:02
For example, I'll select all of the 3d views in the project browser.
07:07
And then for the browser organization, I'll change it to
07:14
and then next, I'll right click the views branch and choose browser organization.
07:20
And then I'm simply going to edit the existing one
07:23
and I'm going to add another Z
07:26
by
07:27
or actually I'll change the third then buy
07:30
to browser organization
07:32
and then I'll change the fourth one to family and type
07:35
and then I'll click. OK.
07:39
Now you can see there's another branch that has been added
07:43
and we have our browser organization parameter that's being used.
07:49
So as you can see,
07:51
there are lots of ways that you can customize your browser organization schemes so
07:57
that the views or schedules or sheets appear just like you want them to.
08:04
I am going to change it back to by
08:06
level,
08:06
which is what we already had
08:08
on the top of the project browser,
08:10
you can click on the tabs
08:12
to toggle between views,
08:14
legends, schedules,
08:16
sheets,
08:17
families,
08:18
groups
08:19
and links.
08:20
Let's also explore the search bar.
08:23
I will enter ground floor
08:25
and as I do,
08:27
you can see various branches expand in the project browser
08:32
and the project browser will find
08:35
the phrase or the string
08:37
that I am searching for.
08:39
So if you are looking for a specific view
08:42
or you're trying to find a view you named incorrectly,
08:46
you can search in the project browser to help you find it.
00:05
In this video,
00:06
you'll learn how to create and edit browser
00:09

00:14
