In this lesson,
00:04
you will understand how rebar can be propagated to similar concrete elements.
00:08
Whilst remaining adaptive,
00:11
you will also propagate the rebar by face which
00:13
enables fast and robust methods of producing reinforcement schemes.
00:18
The objective domains covered are 1.1 h work with reinforcement tools.
00:24
Many building elements have a similar shape
00:26
and size and have similar reinforcement arrangements.
00:30
The propagate rebar tool allows rebar to be propagated
00:34
from a source host to several destination hosts.
00:38
You can also propagate rebar by face.
00:41
This will increase your productivity when applying
00:43
reinforcement to similar elements across concrete structures.
00:48
Go ahead and open up the model 018 D work with reinforcement tools.
00:53
Our task here is to add additional rebars to the columns
00:57
and slab edge including the starter bars for the columns.
01:01
The columns have different section sizes
01:03
but will have similar arrangements of rebar
01:08
rather than simply copying and editing the rebars.
01:10
We would now use propagate rebar.
01:13
The propagate rebar tool will use adaptive propagation which respects
01:17
things like rebar constraints and cover settings on elements.
01:22
Let's begin by checking the cover settings on the columns.
01:25
So here you can see that we have a column already reinforced.
01:28
And if I select the column
01:30
in the properties pallet, we can see here,
01:32
the rebar cover is currently set to interior shelves.
01:36
Number six to number 18,
01:38
we'll ensure that the cover settings are the same
01:40
for these remaining columns on the front face.
01:43
So I'm going to select the three columns here holding down the control key
01:48
and then in the proper
01:49
pallet,
01:50
I'll make sure that the cover setting is again
01:52
set to interior shelves six to number 18.
01:56
Also the starter bars are currently hosted into the floor
01:60
to ensure correct adaptive propagation.
02:02
I'm going to temporarily host these starter bars into the column.
02:06
So I'll use a window to select the four starter bars
02:10
and again in the properties paddock in the instance parameters,
02:13
we can see that the host category is currently set to floor
02:17
on the modify rebar tab in a host panel. We'll go ahead and select pick new host.
02:23
Let's now select the column
02:26
with the four starter bars still selected again in the properties paddock.
02:30
I can see now the host category is correctly set to structural column.
02:35
So we're now ready to use the propagation tool. So
02:38
we'll select the column
02:40
and on the modify columns tab in the reinforcement panel,
02:44
we'll select propagates rebar
02:47
in the propagate rebar panel.
02:49
You'll notice that the default setting is aligned by host.
02:52
This is what we're going to use to select the remaining front columns.
02:56
So
02:57
we'll select the column directly below the one that we've just selected
03:02
and will then hold the control key down and select
03:04
the other two columns directly below the first one.
03:09
Looking at the preview here,
03:10
we can see that the adaptive propagation has worked correctly.
03:15
Once we're happy with this,
03:16
we can go ahead here and select finish on the propagate rebar panel.
03:22
The reinforcement has now been propagated and added to the remaining columns.
03:26
We can now change the host of the starter bars back to the floor.
03:29
So I'll select the four starter bars here
03:33
on the modify rebar tab. In the host panel, we'll select, pick new host
03:37
and we'll select the floor here
03:40
and we now repeat that for the remaining starter buzz.
03:50
Ok?
03:51
So we'll just complete the last four starter bars here
03:56
and picked the last slab.
04:01
So next,
04:01
we're going to have a look at propagating the U buzz from the edge of
04:05
this slab here to the remaining slabs that we can see within the project here.
04:10
Let's go ahead and select the U buzz on the edge of this slab
04:14
and once again on the modify rebar tab.
04:17
In the host panel, we can select propagate rebar.
04:21
Now this time you'll notice in the propagate rebar panel,
04:23
we currently have a line by a face selected as default.
04:27
This is what we're going to use.
04:29
So
04:30
you can see on the tool tip, it's prompting us to select the source face.
04:34
So that's going to be the front face of this slab.
04:38
We're then prompted to pick destination faces. So I can select this face here.
04:44
And we can clearly see that that adaptive rebar has now been propagated correctly.
04:48
We'll hold the control key down
04:50
and select the remaining faces on the slab.
04:56
The propagate rebar tool would also adapt the
04:59
rebar to different elements and completely different orientations.
05:03
So for example, if I select this edge here on the slab,
05:06
we can again see the U bars have been propagated.
05:09
Of course,
05:10
we can actually change the shape handle here to
05:12
make sure that the length isn't exceeding the floor.
05:15
So we'll go ahead and select finish.
05:18
We'll select the rebar set that we've just propagated.
05:21
And here we can see that we have the shape handle
05:24
and we'll just drag that back.
05:28
And now to complete the propagation of the rebar,
05:30
we can go back up to the modify rebar tab.
05:33
And in the host panel, we can select propagate rebar. Again,
05:39
this will now be the source's face
05:42
and we can then select the destination faces.
05:47
And of course, I'll hold the control key down to allow me to select this face here
05:51
and also this face down here on the slab.
05:57
Again, once we're happy with the adaptive propagation,
05:60
we can complete the task by selecting finish.
06:03
OK. So our rebar has now been successfully propagated to different elements

03:29

03:37
and we'll select the floor here

05:60
we can complete the task by selecting finish.
06:03
OK. So our rebar has now been successfully propagated to different elements
