In this objective, we are going to manage clashes and create

issues.

One of the most important rule of thumb in managing clashes

is that not every clash that we see is a problem.

So for example, in our case, we have not

modeled the penetrations yet, but we

can see those penetrations as clashes in the model.

In this case, we can select these clashes

that are valid penetrations and we can mark them as non-issues.

However, the clashes that are problematic we

need to address them.

And the way we address them using the Model Coordination

module is by creating issues on those clashes

and then assigning those issues to the individuals who

could then go into the authoring tool like Revit

and fix those clashes.

So let's jump straight into the Model Coordination module

and look at this workflow.

As you can see, I'm in the Model Coordination module

and currently I'm on the Views tab.

In the last course, we created these two views.

These two views were created using

the models that are available in the shared file coordination

space.

In this case, I'm going to click on Plumbing vs Structure view.

It now opens the view with these two models federated.

I'm going to click on the Clashes panel,

and now I can see where there's clashes.

But at this stage, these clashes are grouped by the structure

elements, so I'm going to click on the model dropdown list

and pick the plumbing view from here.

Now these clashes are grouped by the plumbing elements,

because these are the elements that we have to modify.

Now this is where we can start interrogating these clashes.

So we can start looking at all these different clashes

one by one.

We can also click on these clashes in the Clashes panel

on the left.

So for example, if I click on this particular clash here,

we can now see that that's the problem right there.

Similarly, if I go to another clash,

Now as I mentioned earlier, some of these clashes

In my case, I know that I have not modelled penetrations

So I can click on this slab here.

As soon as I do that, it now selects 17 clashes.

These 17 clashes are with this particular slab.

If I want, I can review these clashes one by one

to make sure that I've picked all the right clashes, which

So I can now change all these clashes into non-issues.

So let's click on this Not an Issue button.

Now it's asking me for a title, slab penetration.

Now the reason, we'll go and say this is a valid penetration.

And in the comments I'm going to say,

This is where we can go to other clashes as well

and now we've got this problem here to resolve.

So obviously we need to move these Troffer Corner

inserts down, but we don't know how much

we need to move them down.

And this is where we can use the measurement

tool available inside this interface.

Now before I start measuring the elements,

I'm going to modify my measurement settings,

make sure that Unit Type is set to the right units.

In this case, I want them to be in feet and decimal inches.

And now I want to find out what's

the distance between the bottom of this beam

and the top corner of this Troffer Corner insert.

So it's telling me that the z-value is 1 feet, 5.1 inches.

Similarly, if I go and check this one here, it's 9.1 inches.

So what we are going to do is create
