Now, there are a few ways to get a project on Shared Coordinates.
00:05
This first example assumes the project has been going on for a while and everything's been linked via origin to origin.
00:12
Do not fret.
00:13
Since we have located our Architectural model, the rest should fall in line quickly.
00:18
The objective of this video is to reload our existing Structural model into our Architectural model,
00:25
and then open our Structural model just to investigate it and make sure everything's good.
00:32
I'm going to jump into Revit.
00:34
I'm going to open my Architectural model.
00:39
Open "Manage Links", let's do it this time.
00:43
What do we have?
00:44
FM Struct.
00:46
Well, these are all named funny, and I know I didn't go prepare these models.
00:49
So, what I'd like to do is open that Structural model.
00:53
I'm not going to reload it yet, I'm just going to click "OK".
00:58
Before I do, though, I want to make sure that my ground floor is reading actual datum elevation, that is 0.
01:05
Click "Ground Floor", click "Edit Type",
01:13
from my Elevation Base, instead of Project Base Point, let's click the drop-down and go Survey point.
01:18
Click "Apply", click "OK".
01:26
Perfect.
01:29
Let's save this model.
01:32
I'm going to close it.
01:35
Now I'm going to click "Open".
01:37
I'm going to browse back to my project, go to Structural, Provided By Others.
01:46
Here's a Structural model.
01:49
Right click it, copy it.
01:52
Scroll out of this directory and I'm going to paste it right here.
01:59
Don't just reload it from the old model.
02:02
Make it your own.
02:04
I'm going to rename it to STRUCTURAL, all caps.
02:08
Again, I'm just renaming the structural.
02:09
Whatever your company standards are, your company standards are.
02:13
It looks like they've already detached it and it's been upgraded for us.
02:17
Splendid.
02:18
Let's just click "Open".
02:22
Uh-oh, third party updaters. I hate them.
02:27
Let's just continue working with the file.
02:32
Open Manage Links to correct the problem.
02:35
There's Arch, there's M Equipment.
02:38
Okay, we're going to leave those alone for now, too.
02:41
Click "Open".
02:43
Now I want to go to an Elevation.
02:45
So, under Elevations, let's go to South.
02:49
Oh, it's that 100 ft again.
02:51
We should probably turn on the Architectural Underlay, though, and make sure everything's cool.
02:55
Type VG for Visibility Graphics, go to Revit Links, turn on Arch.rvt.
03:05
Now go to Model Categories.
03:09
Scroll down to "Site", let's turn on our Project Base Point as well as our Survey point, click "Apply", click "OK".
03:20
So, you might notice that our project Base Point's down here, since our Architectural models not showing up, that's okay.
03:27
What we can do is scroll down to "Links", right click on Arch.rvt, Reload From.
03:38
Scroll out of this directory.
03:41
Go to One Architectural.
03:44
I like to delete my backups.
03:47
Select "Architectural", click "Open".
03:54
We can ignore these. There's nothing we can do about it.
03:57
But we'll go vet each one of these out when we get to it.
04:00
Click "Close" and there it is.
04:05
Now we need to relocate this project, notice like we saw, this is way down here.
04:11
Let's find our Ground Floor, 100 ft.
04:16
Here it is.
04:17
On the "Manage" tab under "Project Location", let's click "Reload Project".
04:27
Go from Ground Floor, go straight down 100.
04:34
Hopefully, you won't always have to do this.
04:38
If people just leave stuff on zero, that works too.
04:42
Now, select your Project Base Points.
04:46
Unclip it, set your elevation to 100.
04:50
Enter.
04:54
Save the project.
04:56
Let's close out of it.
04:59
Let's close out of here.
05:02
Let's open our Architectural model.
05:07
Open Manage Links to correct the problem.
05:10
For Struct, let's go Reload From, very similar to what we just did,
05:17
scroll out to our Structural directory, delete your back up.
05:23
Grab the one you want, click "Open". M Equipment is not showing up.
05:32
That's fine, there's not much we can do about it.
05:34
It's set to Overlay.
05:35
That means we can't see it.
05:37
Click "Close".
05:38
It's exactly what we want to see.
05:40
Click "OK".
05:42
Let's go to a 3D View.
05:45
It's kind of hard to pick up where a Structural is, if it's in alignment, that is.
05:51
I just so happen to know that that's our Structural model there.
05:54
But when we hover over it, notice that it's not shared.
05:58
Let's publish our Coordinates to it.
06:00
Go to the "Manage" tab, on the "Project Location" panel, click the "Coordinates" drop-down and let's select "Publish Coordinates".
06:11
Select the "Structural model".
06:15
Move it to Internal Current, click "OK".
06:22
Click "Save".
06:26
Save the position back to the link.
06:33
Okay, now there's something bad about the other model that I know about that I haven't pointed out yet.
06:40
Let's open the Structural model.
06:45
Let's do not warn about this updater again and continue working with the file.
06:53
Open "Manage Links" to correct the problem.
06:56
Architectural is fine.
06:58
M Equipment is not loaded.
06:59
I'm just going to select M Equipment.
07:02
I'm going to remove it.
07:05
Click "OK", click "OK".
07:09
For some reason, our Project Base Point's a little high, but that's okay.
07:12
It's unclipped. We probably should have clipped it before.
07:17
We just simply need to move down a 100 ft.
07:19
So, make sure that elevation is at 5388 and make sure you clip it.
07:27
This is the reason we need to clip these things after we're done setting them.
07:33
Go to a 3D view.
07:35
There was one of the problems I knew about.
07:37
Here's another real problem.
07:40
We're not lined up, so here's what we need to do.
07:45
Select your "Architectural Link", notice that it's not shared.
07:50
Pick it.
07:53
For Shared Site, it says Not Shared.
07:56
Go ahead and click on "Not Shared".
07:60
Let's move the instance to Architectural Internal.
08:04
So, two things happened.
08:06
We didn't clip the Project Base Point and it moved up.
08:10
We moved it down to the right spot.
08:12
Now we're going to move the instance of this link, which is off, to internal, click "OK".
08:20
If there's constraints, that's fine.
08:22
Click "Remove Constraints".
08:23
That's probably just a dimension somewhere.
08:26
Boom.
08:27
It moves it to the right spot.
08:30
Boy, we just averted a disaster, didn't we?
08:33
Hit "Escape" a few times.
08:35
Now, if we click "Save",
08:37
it's not going to try to reach out to the other model, because all we did was simply moved it internally to the right position.
08:45
I want to go back to my South Elevation, though, just to make sure everybody is in the right spot.
08:58
Now, we don't have that 100 ft discrepancy any longer.
09:02
And we are on Shared Coordinates.
