PRESENTER: In this lesson, we will
00:03
begin migrating our information to the BIM360 environment
00:07
to continue our collaboration efforts.
00:10
Let's start by opening up one of the sheet drawings
00:13
provided to you.
00:21
Please open the Connected Learning Way RD01 drawing
00:26
sheet that was provided to you.
00:30
In this drawing, we're going to confirm
00:32
that our external references, or X-references, and our data
00:36
references, or D-references, are connected correctly
00:39
in the drawings before we migrate
00:41
the information to BIM360.
00:44
BIM360 does a great job of reconnecting and migrating
00:48
information that is needed for the files we are copying over.
00:52
Please notice that we are local for our Data Shortcuts folder
00:58
and that our data references in this drawing
01:01
are active and not broken.
01:06
Next, we will go over and check the status
01:08
of our external references.
01:11
As you can see here, our X-references
01:14
are set to Relative Path.
01:20
This will help when we move the information to BIM360
01:22
to ensure that the files remain connected
01:25
to the correct information.
01:29
Now, we will go ahead and close down
01:31
to your home screen in Civil
01:35
entirely, if you choose.
01:38
Navigating over to our BIM360 environment--
01:42
in a web browser, we are going to go through the document
01:45
management module.
01:52
Once we're in our document management module,
01:54
let's move to our Project Files folders,
01:57
and you'll see that we have our Architectural and Civil
01:59
folders created for us.
02:01
If they are not available, please right click
02:03
on the ellipsis over here to the right side of the project files
02:08
location and add a subfolder.
02:10
This is also where you can get into some
02:13
of the additional information, like sharing
02:15
your data out and setting permissions
02:17
on the individual folders.
02:20
Migrate into your civil folder, and this is where
02:23
we're going to store our data.
02:24
Now, in order to make sure that we're
02:26
getting our external references copied over correctly,
02:29
we will migrate the data leveraging the Desktop
02:32
Connector.
02:33
However, just to get our process started here, let's go ahead
02:37
and move a couple of our files that
02:39
have data shortcuts associated with them.
02:47
So let's navigate into our drawings folder,
02:50
and let's grab the four reference
02:54
files that we have here.
02:55
We have our three data reference files and our one
02:58
external reference file.
03:00
We will drag and drop those into the BIM360 environment,
03:04
and now you can see them 360 as processing
03:06
in the upload of those files.
03:09
Now, let's go back in to our Explorer window,
03:13
and please open up two Explorer windows, side by side,
03:18
and navigate to your BIM360 project in one window,
03:22
and navigate to where your files are stored locally
03:25
in your other.
03:26
And this will be the methodology that we use in the next step
03:30
to migrate our data shortcuts and our sheet sets.
03:34
As you can see here, we'll grab our sheet set file
03:38
and the three sheets that are part of our set,
03:42
and we we'll drag them over and copy them
03:45
into the 360 environment.
03:47
Please notice down here at the bottom,
03:50
the file transfer process has begun for BIM360.
03:55
We will navigate one directory back
03:58
to where our Data Shortcuts working folder is located,
04:04
and we will begin the process of copying that over now, as well.
04:09
again, we will drag and drop that file into BIM360.
04:13
You saw that kickoff, and the file
04:15
is starting the process to create.
04:17
Let's take a look at what Desktop Connector
04:19
is looking like right now.
04:22
Near your clock, you will right click on the desktop connector
04:25
icon, the open Autodesk, A. And then
04:30
we will look at our pending actions.
04:32
And you can see that there quickly
04:35
flashed away on our screen.
04:37
BIM360 is being updated via the desktop connector.
