As a project develops, changes and updates will be made to the design
00:07
which will mean that the drawings need to be updated and reprinted
00:11
to show the latest information
00:14
to keep track of changes and help identify the latest version of drawings.
00:18
Revisions are applied through individual sheets,
00:21
given details of the changes and the date that they were made
00:26
in this project.
00:27
We have a number of sheets that will need
00:28
to be revised and reprinted as the project develops,
00:33
we're currently looking at the sheet A 101 elevations
00:38
and I'll also open the sheet A 102 which is the floor two internal layout plan
00:45
to define revisions for the project.
00:47
We'll go to the view ribbon tab
00:49
and from the sheet composition panel, we'll click the revisions tool
00:53
and in this sheet issues, revision settings here,
00:56
we can see the number and is currently set to be per sheet.
00:59
And this means that as we add more revisions
01:02
into the sequence and assign those two individual sheets,
01:06
the revision number will remain sequential upon each individual sheet
01:11
even if some of the revisions are missed out on that sheet.
01:15
If the numbering was set to be per project.
01:18
Then the sequence would be set here in the issue and revision settings
01:22
which might lead to gaps in the sequence if
01:25
certain revisions don't apply to all of the sheets.
01:29
So we'll leave the number in set to be per sheet without looking further down.
01:33
We'll click the number in button here to customize the number in sequence.
01:38
So we can see we have two number and sequences created alpha numeric and numeric
01:44
with alpha numeric selected.
01:45
I'll click the edit number in sequence at the bottom here.
01:49
And we can see now that this will give us
01:51
the letters of the alphabet as the revision sequence.
01:54
So I'll click cancel to close this.
01:56
And now we'll select the numeric type here
01:59
and then click to edit the number in sequence.
02:03
And we can see that this is now a sequence of numbers starting at number one
02:08
commonplace in construction joins now is
02:10
to have two different revision sequences.
02:13
One for provisional revisions that represent changes to
02:17
designs that need to be checked and approved
02:19
before being formally issued as a contractual revision.
02:24
To distinguish between these a prefix is normally placed before the number
02:29
and the letter P is used for provisional
02:32
and C is used for contractual.
02:37
So let's edit this numeric version here to be the provisional revision sequence.
02:42
So we'll change its name to provisional
02:45
and we'll set the minimum number of digits to be two
02:49
and then we'll set the prefix to be letter P.
02:52
Now we can click, OK to save those changes.
02:56
And now we'll click to create a new number in sequence
02:60
and we set the name to be contractual
03:05
and then we'll set the prefix to be the letter C
03:08
and then we'll click, OK to save this number in sequence.
03:12
So now that we have those new numbering sequences, we'll click.
03:15
OK to save the changes.
03:19
Now, looking at the actual list of revisions,
03:21
we can see we have the first one entered and it's currently set to be alpha numeric.
03:25
So we'll change this to be a provisional revision
03:29
and then we'll click, OK to save those changes.
03:34
Now, looking at the sheet,
03:35
we'll go to the identity data panel in the properties palette here
03:39
and at the bottom, we'll click the edit button
03:41
next to the revisions on the sheet
03:44
in here. We can see we have the first issue revision listed,
03:48
so we'll select the show and revision schedule
03:50
and click. Ok.
03:52
And that was zooming in closer to the title block.
03:54
You can see that entered in and it has this frequence of po one.
03:59
So now I'll swap to the A 101 elevations sheet here
04:02
and again, click the edit next to revisions on sheet.
04:06
I will select the first issue version to be shown in the schedule
04:10
and then we'll click. Ok.
04:12
And again in the title block here, we can see that version P one is added to this sheet.
04:19
Now we'll go back to the view ribbon tab and from the sheet composition panel,
04:23
we'll click on the revisions button
04:28
and then we'll click the add button to add the second revision
04:31
and we'll set the date to be 10 8 22
04:36
and the description will be roof slope changed.
04:42
Now, we have that we'll click add once more
04:44
and again, we'll leave this as a provisional revision
04:47
and we'll set the date to be 10, 8 22 the same as previously.
04:52
And the description for this will be internal layout altered.
05:02
So now we'll click ok to save those changes.
05:05
And on the elevation sheet, just here,
05:08
we'll click the edit button next to revisions on sheet.
05:11
And here we'll check the sequence two roof slope
05:14
change revision to be shown in the schedule,
05:17
but we won't check the internal layout altered
05:21
and then we'll click. Ok.
05:23
And we can see now that that has been added
05:24
into the revision history here and this is now pe 02
05:28
with roof slope changed.
05:30
I'll swap to the internal layout sheet
05:32
and click the edit button for the revisions on sheet.
05:36
This time we select the internal layout altered provision to be shown
05:41
and then click, OK.
05:43
And we can see that this becomes revision po two,
05:46
keeping that sequence going on the individual sheet.
05:50
So now we'll go back to the view ribbon tab
05:53
and we'll click the revisions button on the sheet composition panel
05:57
and then we'll click, add to add a new vision into the sequence.
06:01
And this time we'll change the number to be contractual.
06:04
We'll set the date to be 10, 12 22
06:08
and the description will be construction issue.
06:12
Then we'll click ok
06:13
to save those changes.
06:17
And now on the sheet here, we'll click the edit button next to revisions on sheet
06:22
and we'll select the construction issue revision to be
06:24
shown in the schedule and then we'll click.
06:26
Ok.
06:27
We can see now that that's created revision C one
06:31
with the construction issue description.
06:33
I'll swap to the elevation sheet
06:36
and again, we'll click the edit button for the revisions on sheet
06:39
and select the construction issue revision to be shown in the schedule.
06:43
And then we'll click. Ok.
06:44
Again, we can see that C one revision on this sheet as well.
06:50
So now we'll go back to the view ribbon
06:52
tab and we'll click the revisions button once more
06:55
and then we'll click add
06:57
and we change this to be a provisional vision again
07:01
and we'll set the date to be 10, 15, 22
07:06
and the description will be stare layout altered.
07:11
Now we'll click ok,
07:12
to close the revisions.
07:14
I will swap to the internal layout drawing sheet here
07:18
and now we'll click to edit the revisions on sheet
07:21
and we'll check the stare layout altered revision
07:24
and then click ok.
07:25
And we can see now that, that swaps back to be a P revision for provisional
07:30
and it's P three keeping the sequence
07:32
growing with the previous provisional revisions.
07:35
So now we might need to indicate on the
07:37
drawing sheet exactly where those changes have been made.
07:41
And to do this, we'll use a revision cloud.
07:43
So we'll go to the annotate ribbon tab
07:46
and on the detail panel here, we'll click the revision cloud button
07:50
and looking at the ribbon here. We can see we have the rectangle draw tool enabled.
07:54
So we just need to draw the rectangle around the stairs. Here in the plan,
07:58
we can see that cloud being created.
08:01
So we'll click finish edit mode to finish creating it.
08:05
Now, we can see that that cloud has been placed.
08:08
We'll go to the annotate ribbon tab again
08:10
and from the tag panel here, we'll click tag by category
08:15
and now we can come and select the revision cloud
08:19
and we can see now that that tag has been added to that revision cloud
08:23
indicating that it's revision po three
08:27
which corresponds to the revision schedule on the sheet here.
08:30
So this now helps us to identify the areas that have been changed with this revision
08:34
and makes it easier to compare with earlier versions of the drawing.
08:38
And that now completes adding the revisions to our sheets.
