Since we have basically imported an entire bridge from InfraWorks into Revit,
00:06
we had to do some mapping so Revit can understand what it is we're actually looking at.
00:10
That being said, we're going to look at how to tag these hybrid components.
00:16
So, let's open the model we've been working in.
00:19
In the project browser, let's go to our south elevation.
00:23
Now I want to just zoom in and we're going to be picking on Pier 1 all day.
00:27
So, let's go ahead and select Pier 1.
00:30
Now let's click "Edit Type".
00:34
In the properties, let's fine type mark and I want to call that capital P-1.
00:40
it's P-1.
00:42
Click "Apply".
00:44
Click "OK".
00:50
Now, let's scroll down to the foundations.
00:52
Select the foundation.
00:55
Let's click "Edit Type".
00:59
For the type mark, let's call it F-1.
01:04
Click "Apply".
01:06
Click "OK".
01:08
So, I'm going to do the same for the rest of these.
01:09
I'm going to click "Edit Type", select that one.
01:12
For my type mark, I'm going to say P-2.
01:18
Click "OK".
01:21
And my foundation, "Edit type".
01:25
It's going to be F-2, and then do the rest.
01:30
Okay, well, these are all tagged.
01:32
I'm going to zoom back into this one here.
01:36
I'm going to go to my annotate tab.
01:39
I'm going to click on "Tag by category".
01:45
Let's make sure leader is checked on.
01:47
And for the end, let's make sure that's a free end.
01:52
So, I'm going to zoom into my pier somewhere here.
01:55
Hover over Pier 1, pick a spot here, pick a spot here, then I'm going to pick a spot here, and hit Escape a few times.
02:04
Now, let's put a leader arrowhead on this.
02:05
I'm going to select my tag and click "Edit Type".
02:11
And for my leader arrowhead, I'm going to click into here, and I'm going to grab arrowfield 15 degree.
02:18
Click "Apply".
02:19
Click "OK".
02:21
Excellent. Not what I want to do is I want to physically edit this tag.
02:25
So, I'm going to click "Edit family".
02:30
Now let's select our little label, this little one I.
02:33
Select that, lets click "Edit label".
02:38
Now I want to add a type mark.
02:40
The type name is fine.
02:42
So, I'm going to scroll down until I find type mark, and I'm going to edit.
02:48
Now I want to put a break in it.
02:50
And for my prefix, I want an open parenthesis.
02:55
And for my suffix, I want a closed parenthesis.
03:02
Click "Apply". Click "OK".
03:04
I'm going to load into the project and close.
03:06
And we don't need to save any changes so click "No".
03:11
Overwrite the existing version.
03:17
Now, let's go back to annotate.
03:21
Let's tag by category.
03:25
We're going to grab our footing as foundation one point here.
03:29
And we repeat our steps, select your tag, click "Edit Type".
03:35
Change the leader arrowhead to arrowfield 15 degrees.
03:41
Click "Apply".
03:43
Click "OK".
03:45
Click "Edit family" with it still selected.
03:49
Select your tag.
03:52
Edit the label.
03:54
Let's add our type mark.
03:58
Let's make sure it breaks it.
04:01
Open-end parenthesis and we will close with the parenthesis.
04:07
Click "Apply". Click "OK".
04:10
Click "Load into project and close".
04:13
Now we don't need to save the changes, so select "No".
04:17
Overwrite the existing version.
04:20
I like my leader to touch my object so I'm going to select it. I'm going to drag it down a little bit.
04:27
There we go.
04:28
That's how you tag these pier elements.

Tagging Bridge Elements
Since we have basically imported an entire bridge from Infraworks into Revit, we had to do some mapping so Revit can understand what it was we are actually looking at. That being said, we are going to look at how to tag these hybrid components!

- Go to the South elevation.
- Zoom in and select Pier 1 as shown below.
- In the Properties, select Edit Type.
- Scroll down to Type Mark and type P-1
- Hit OK.
- Select the footing under the pier.
- Click Edit Type.
- For the Type Mark, enter F-1
- You get the pattern. Do the same thing for the rest of the piers and footings.
- In the South Elevation, Go to the Annotate tab, then click Tag by Category.
- On the Options bar, click on Leader and select Free End.
- Pick a point on the pier, then a second point for the leader elbow, then pick a spot to place the text. See the image below:
