Exporting from Inventor - Exercise
A VR project is basically a video game and video games are highly reliant on the hardware they are run on for performance. This means dataset should be as light as possible Before exporting, it is important to remove any part that we deem unneeded to ensure that we get good performance in VR.
Preparing dataset
From Inventor open the downloaded project Front Loader.iam file, or download the stp file
Front_Loader_Inventor.stp from the project folder.
Look at the file and observe the project as we will be using this for VR purpose and as mentioned earlier. Delete all the objects that will not be visible in VR. For example, if we never see the engine, we should remove it. Once the file is simplified you can now export Inventor dataset as a STEP file by going into File > Export > CAD Format and from the save as type, choose STEP.
Give it a File name and click Save.
