We'll look at the id and list commands.
00:07
Both can be useful in any drawing but we'll use them in this parcel's drawing.
00:13
The id command can be accessed either by typing in id
00:18
or by going to the home tab.
00:22
The utilities panel dropped down
00:25
and then clicking on id point.
00:29
Once the command is started,
00:31
select any point in the drawing.
00:34
For example,
00:35
the end point of a specific line
00:39
once selected
00:40
the XY and Z values of the selected point are reported back on the command line.
00:47
This can be extremely useful information as the X and Y values are eastern and
00:53
northern coordinate values that can be used
00:56
for constructing items on a civil project.
01:02
Now let's look at the list command.
01:05
This command is useful for listing all of
01:07
the properties of a selected element in autocad.
01:11
You can access the command either by typing in L I enter
01:15
or go to the home tab properties
01:21
and access the list button.
01:25
Once you start the command,
01:29
select the object
01:31
press enter
01:33
and the properties are echoed to the command line.
01:37
Notice that it says the type of object,
01:41
the layer
01:43
and it gives other information such as area
01:47
length
01:48
and coordinate values.
01:54
One quick tip to use with the list command is type in list
01:59
and instead of pressing enter press F one to bring open the help menu
02:06
inside of the help menu, it shows everything that the list command reports back on,
02:12
including color line type,
02:15
line weight,
02:16
elevation Z value,
02:18
et cetera. As you can see
02:20
in the list.
02:24
Now, let's take a look at the quick measure command.
02:28
And in this drawing, we have a floor plan
02:31
that we can pull measurements from
02:34
on the home tab.
02:36
If we go to the utilities panel,
02:40
the measure drop down has several tools.
02:43
The quick measure command is fairly new to autocad.
02:48
This command is intuitive as all you have to do
02:52
is hover around areas and you get instant reporting back.
02:57
If you have a closed boundary
02:59
such as a pool or a house outline,
03:04
you can click and hold while hovering
03:07
and instantly
03:09
the area is filled in
03:11
and reports back with the area measurements.
03:15
Other commands under measure include distance, radius angle, area and volume.
03:22
These are all similar to quick measure
03:25
and these options will report the various
03:27
details that their option name indicates.
