In Revit, you can place electrical devices, such as duplex receptacles,
00:07
in an architectural model in two different ways—from the ribbon, or from the Project Browser.
00:13
To begin, navigate to the Level 1 – Power Plan view.
00:17
To place an electrical fixture, on the Systems ribbon, in the Electrical panel, expand the Device drop-down and click Electrical Fixture.
00:26
For this example, in the Type Selector, select M_Duplex Receptacle – Standard.
00:33
Alternatively, in the Project Browser, expand Families > Electrical Fixtures.
00:39
Then, for this example, expand the Duplex Receptacle family, and select the Standard type.
00:46
Drag the type and drop it into the drawing area.
00:49
The Electrical Fixture tool is now active with Standard Duplex Receptacle selected in the Type Selector.

01:14
Elevation from Level moves the receptacle up and down and Offset from Host moves the receptacle away from the wall.
01:21
Click Edit Type to open the Type Properties dialog.
01:25
Here, you can adjust the Electrical Type Parameters for Switch Voltage, Load Classification, and Load.
01:32
You now know two ways to place electrical devices in Revit.
