In this session, we will create plan and profile sheets based on our design

and then calculate the earthwork volumes and the pavement quantities.

We can then look at some of the reporting options available within civil 3d.

To begin with, we will create the view frames based on our design alignments.

So we'll go under the output tab

and choose create view frames.

We can either select the desired alignment from the list of

choices or we can select the alignment in our file.

We then choose the scale and the page size

and then we can determine how the sheets will be laid out and displayed either plan,

view, profile view or both.

Once we set the view parameters for the plan and profile sheets,

the view frames will be drawn

and then we can do the same thing for the other alignment.

But at a different scale to see how those view frames differ.

Next, we'll choose the create sheets function under the output tab.

We choose which view set we want to use

and we can specify the location of the sheet files.

Those sheet files will be added to BM 360 with the rest of the project.

After we provide the inputs,

we then specify on the screen where we want the profile view to be drawn.

And we can just pick an empty point in our file

in the sheet file. We can view the details.

If we need to make any revisions to the profile view,

we go into model space

and we make the same modifications we would for any other profile here,

we want to revise the elevation view to display all of the existing ground profile.

So we can select either automatic or user defined elevations

or we can make revisions as needed.

Once we've made those revisions in the viewport,

everything is updated in paper space.

We can also make any revisions in the viewport to the plan view.

Next, let's calculate the volumes and the quantities of the materials

we can do this by the cross section method or based on the cord or surfaces.

Let's take a look at the assembly and see what kind of information we need to gather.

We want to create a surface that's based on the bottom of our assembly.

So we'll select the sub base and the sidewalk

and we also did create a sub assembly previously

with the composer.

So we'll need to know what codes we need to include so that the surface is accurate.

It looks like those are sub base and bottom of curb. We

will also include the cut and fill points

when we add the elements to our surface,

we want them to represent the bottom of our structure.

So once the surface has been created,

we can then add that to our sections to compute the volumes.

There are several types of quantities that we can compute including earthwork
