The Autodesk Informed Design add-in for Autodesk Inventor

allows product manufacturers to publish their product designs for Revit designers to use within their design models.

As an Informed Design user, you are the author and publisher of the parametric Inventor model data.

You create predefined content with applied product rule sets and publish a product definition to the web application.

Then, Revit designers can download and place these product definitions directly into their models.

Open an Inventor model, such as this staircase assembly.

Some parameters have been defined within the model, as well as some iLogic to control the model directly.

Note that it is helpful for Informed Design users to have experience with Inventor drawings,

part modeling, and assembly creation, as well as an understanding of iLogic.

When the Informed Design add-in is installed, you can see the Informed Design tab on the Inventor ribbon.

From the Informed Design tab, click Product Definition.

The Product definitions list provides access to newly created and existing product definitions.

You can see a list of all the predefined or created definitions.

Select an existing definition, and notice that the tools to edit, duplicate, or delete are now available.

If needed, you can also access the Informed Design web portal from this window.
