Add surface labels to the model.
Transcript
00:04
Now let's add some labels to the surface,
00:08
select the surface and from the surface ribbon tab,
00:10
click on the add labels button on the left and select add surface labels.
00:16
This option will open the A labels dialogue which
00:19
gives us access to all of our label styles.
00:24
In the ad labels. Dialogue set the label type to spot elevation.
00:29
The label style will be
00:32
and the marker star will be basic X
00:36
click. Add,
00:38
select some points on the surface to place a few labels.
00:42
If you select one of your new labels
00:45
and drag it using the grips, you'll see that the label just updates dynamically.
00:52
Now change the label type to slope and set the label style to run over rise.
00:57
If your regional slope convention is rise run format,
01:01
then you could use label style rise over run.
01:05
Click add
01:06
slope labels can either be a single point or two points.
01:10
If you choose a single point label,
01:12
then the slope direction will be along the steepest grade of the triangle
01:16
containing your picked point.
01:18
If you choose a two point label,
01:20
then the slope direction will be along the picked points.
01:23
And The value of the slope label is determined
01:25
by the elevations of the surface at the picked points
01:30
on the command line, select one point
01:33
and pick a point on the surface for the label.
01:36
Now go back to the dialog and click add again.
01:38
But this time on the command line, choose two point,
01:42
pick two points in the surface to place the label,
01:46
press escape, then select one of your two point slope labels.
01:51
You will see grips are displayed on the start middle and end of the label
01:55
enabling you to modify its position and length.
01:59
When you use the grips to adjust the label,
02:02
the value of the label changes dynamically,
02:06
you can change the label style. After you've placed your labels,
02:10
select one of your slope labels, right click and choose label properties
02:15
in the label properties. Change the surface slope label style to percent.
02:20
You can change multiple label styles at the same time using this option.
02:25
Now set the label type to contour, multiple.
02:29
You now have three label styles to set one for major contours,
02:33
one for minor contours and one for user contours.
02:37
User contours can be added to a surface
02:39
style at any specific elevation of your choosing.
02:43
Set the minor contour label style to none,
02:47
click add and then in the drawing,
02:49
pick a series of points across your contours as if you're drawing a line,
02:54
make sure you cross some major contours
02:58
press enter to end the command
03:01
now pick the line and move it using the grips.
03:04
The contour labels will update,
03:08
use the autocad
03:09
copy command to copy your contour label.
03:13
Place a couple of coppers in new locations in the drawing.
03:17
The labels are still linked to the surface and will update automatically.
03:23
Of course, for drawing production purposes,
03:25
we wouldn't want to plot the contour label line.
03:28
Select the contour label right click and choose contour label line properties
03:35
in the surface contour label group properties, set, display contour label line
03:40
to force
03:42
note that you can turn all of the other options on
03:44
or off and change the three types of label style.
03:48
The label line is no longer visible.
03:51
However, if you pick one of the contour labels, the line and grips will be shown
03:56
and you'll still be able to adjust the label line.
