Let's look at selection cycling.
00:07
This is a simple yet extremely handy option in Autocad.
00:11
It is primarily used in cases where there
00:15
is geometry directly on top of other geometry.
00:19
And you're trying to select just one of those objects.
00:23
Without the use of selection cycling,
00:25
you may be tempted to use draw order and send one of the objects to the back,
00:31
making it easier
00:32
to select the desired object
00:35
selection. Cycling however, makes it even easier to select a specific object
00:41
without the needs for extra commands.
00:44
Let's look at an example of using selection cycling in the yard layout.
00:49
In this example,
00:50
we have the grass area that we just created on top of magenta lines for the pavement.
00:57
These lines are both on top of each other.
00:60
If I wanted to select the magenta line and I'm not using selection cycling,
01:05
I would have to send the green line to the back, using draw order.
01:10
So if I were to select the green poly line, I would then right click, go to draw order
01:16
and send to the back.
01:18
So you can see how many commands that took
01:22
with selection. Cycling turned on.
01:25
I'll be able to hover over the objects.
01:28
And I'll see that I get two little white squares.
01:32
Now, before I move on, let's discuss where selection cycling is.
01:36
It's right here on the status bar
01:39
and you can toggle it on
01:41
and toggle it off.
01:44
So to use selection cycling,
01:47
I'll hover over where the overlapping geometry exists.
01:51
In
01:52
this case, the green poly line
01:55
is on top of the magenta poly line.
01:59
Once I see the two little white squares, I can simply left click
02:04
and I get a dialogue box
02:06
that allows me to toggle between
02:09
the entities that I wanna select
02:12
one thing to keep in mind.
02:14
It's not just for two overlapping objects,
02:18
it can be many overlapping objects that will show up in the selection,
02:23
cycling dialogue box.
02:25
So to select the object, you simply select it in the dialogue box
02:31
and then that object is selected in your drawing.
