How to use the Press Pull command to automatically extrude, offset, and fillet solid bodies based on the geometry you select in Fusion.
Transcript
00:03
In the Design workspace, you can use the Press Pull command to create certain features based on the geometry selected.
00:11
When you click Press Pull, Fusion recognizes whether you have selected a profile, a face,
00:16
or an edge, and automatically opens a dialog to define the respective features.
00:22
The extrude feature in the Press Pull command occurs when Fusion recognizes that a sketch profile has been selected.
00:29
In this example, an outline of a small end cap needs to be turned into a solid 3D body.
00:35
Select the appropriate sketch profiles, then from the Solid toolbar, Modify group, click Press Pull.
00:43
The Extrude dialog opens.
00:45
You can now drag the handle or enter a value, and when you click OK, the outline turns into a solid body.
00:53
You can also do an extrude cut into the body you just created.
00:57
From the Browser, click the visibility icon to unhide the other sketch.
01:02
Repeat the Press Pull command, enter a negative value, and then click OK.
01:10
The automatic offset feature occurs when Fusion recognizes that a face has been selected.
01:16
First, hide the sketch features from the Browser by clicking the visibility icon again.
01:22
Now, select the bottom face of the pocket you just created and click Press Pull again.
01:28
As you can see, the dialog now indicates that you are in the Offset Face command.
01:33
Set the Offset Type to New Offset.
01:36
For the Distance, enter a negative value, such as -1 mm, and then click OK.
01:43
You can also use Press Pull to automatically apply fillets to edges in your design.
01:49
Click Press Pull and select one of the internal edges.
01:52
Fusion recognizes that an edge is selected and automatically opens the Fillet dialog.
01:58
Enter a value for the edges, such as 1 mm and click OK.
02:03
As you can see, there are now three different solid modelling commands captured in the timeline, just by using one intuitive feature.
02:12
For an even better understanding of the power behind the Press Pull command, practice using it in your workflow.
