Describe the linear feature extraction function in ReCap Pro.
Type:
Tutorial
Length:
2 min.
Transcript
00:03
ReCap Pro allows for linear feature extraction in the cloud,
00:08
which can give civil engineers a better way to design in real-world context more efficiently.
00:13
Once you have published or uploaded a point cloud directly in your browser,
00:18
you can extract linear geometry from that point cloud data, inside the ReCap Cloud Viewer.
00:23
You can quickly add or edit the critical feature points.
00:27
A user-defined tag can be added to each feature point.
00:30
You can edit this tag to represent the name of the feature you are extracting.
00:34
This helps to describe the linear feature when it is imported as a feature line into Civil 3D.
00:40
Once your critical points are set in the cross-section view,
00:44
you can start the Auto Extraction.
00:46
Linework is generated at the locations you set in the cross-section view.
00:51
If the critical feature points need to be adjusted to new geometry,
00:54
you simply stop the auto extraction, adjust to the new geometry,
00:58
and start the auto extraction again.
01:01
This gives you the flexibility to change what you are extracting quickly and efficiently.
01:06
When finished, you can export the extracted linear features in the LandXML or DXF file formats.
01:14
Linear feature extraction enables you to import into Civil 3D only the geometry needed to generate a lightweight surface model,
01:21
rather than inserting large point clouds and generating heavy surface models.
01:26
This not only saves you time but helps with the data management of large point clouds.
