Assign water to a flow volume part in a valve model

To prepare for running a valve model simulation in Autodesk CFD, you must specify the physical characteristics of the model.

This includes assigning a material of water to flow volume parts.

To start, press CTRL and middle click any part covering the flow volume part to hide it.

In this case, the valve body is hidden.

Left-click to select the flow volume part.

Then, on the ribbon, in the Setup tab, Materials panel, click Edit.

The Materials quick edit dialog opens, where you can select the material type.

Under Property settings, click the Type value to expand the drop-down, and select Fluid.

Next, expand the Name drop-down and select Water.

Click Apply.

To verify that the water material is properly assigned, in the Design Study Bar, confirm the material assignment for the Water part.

Then, in the graphics window, ensure that the color of the flow volume part now matches the Water color in the legend.

With this material assigned, you are ready to move on to the next step of preparing your model for a CFD simulation.
