In Upchain, a released item version cannot be modified and is considered finished.
00:09
However, if you need to make further modifications to the item, you can do so by creating a new item version.
00:15
This new version will have a status of Development and can be modified as needed.
00:21
For this example, suppose you want to create a new version of the released component file CLA-Screw-10.
00:28
Begin with the released model open in Inventor and the Upchain panel open to the CAD Bill of Materials (cBOM).
00:35
Right-click the top-level assembly file and select Check out.
00:39
In the Check out files window, select the checkbox beside each item you want to check out.
00:44
In this case, select the top-level assembly (Version 004) and the CLA-Screw-10 (Version 002) component.
00:54
You cannot revise a released part or sub-assembly within the context of a released assembly without revising it too.
01:01
This is because changes to the part or sub-assembly mean that the assembly is changed as well.
01:07
Click Download to download the files to your local drive.
01:12
When the items are finished downloading, click Open model.
01:16
In the cBOM view, click Refresh.
01:19
The selected items are locked and checked out to you, as indicated by a green check out lock.
01:25
Note that the R symbol, indicating Released, still appears next to the assembly and the CLA-Screw-10 part.
01:32
Right-click the top-level assembly and select Check in to create new item versions for all checked out items.
01:39
Select the checkbox beside the location in which you want to place the new item version, and then click Select.
01:46
In the CAD Check In window, note that the top-level assembly has gone to Version 005,
01:52
and the CLA-Screw-10 part has gone to Version 003.
01:58
Click OK.
01:59
In the cBOM, the assembly and the CLA-Screw-10 component are no longer displayed in green,
02:05
and the D symbol appears next to these items, indicating a status of Development.
02:10
You can now check out and modify the component as needed.
