So let's now look at creating our own family templates.
00:07
If we go back to the file ribbon
00:09
and we hover over new and select family
00:14
back in the new family dialog box here,
00:16
I'm just gonna go ahead and select generic model.
00:20
Notice here, we have selected an RFT file. This is a rev
00:24
family template file.
00:26
If I select open
00:28
this file will open up.
00:30
Now here I could add in some additional parameters,
00:33
reference planes and some geometry and set this up for a specific task.
00:38
Once I've done that I want to save this and then create my own
00:42
family template.
00:44
So to do this, we would select the standard save command.
00:48
And of course here this file will now be saved directly as a R FA file.
00:54
So here, what I'm going to do is save this. So I'm just going to call this test.
00:60
You'll notice again as I've said, this is going to be saved as an R FA file.
01:05
I'll click save,
01:07
we can then close down our family. So I'll select file
01:11
and close
01:14
and in Windows explorer, you'll now notice that we have our new family test dot R fa
01:20
I'm going to rename this and I'm going to change the extension
01:24
to RFT
01:27
Windows will warn us that we are changing a five extension.
01:30
We'll say yes here.
01:32
And you can now see that REV family template has been created.
01:36
We can then store that in our own folder or the default folder where the
01:40
family files are stored.
01:43
Let's take a look at where these default family templates are located
01:48
in rev it, go ahead and select the file ribbon
01:52
and then select options
01:56
in the options, dialog, select file locations
02:00
and you'll note here that we have the default path for family template files.
02:05
Of course, here, we could just select that path and copy that
02:09
and then post that into windows explorer to see those
02:11
files or we can browse to select a new one.
