We can add all sorts of components to our models: toilets, sinks, desks, chairs, office equipment, Lighting fixtures, etc.

If you do not have the folders listed in your installed library, each of the families mentioned has been provided with the dataset. You can alternatively load them from there instead.

Let’s add a few items to some of the exam rooms

Continue in this way adding other equipment and furnishings. There are many items included in the provided library. When you are unable to locate an item you need in the provided folders, you can try searching online. There are many websites devoted to sharing Revit content items. Some are free and some charge a fee. Always take some time to test out the content items in a temporary project before loading into a live project just in case there is some behavior or characteristic of them that is not compatible with your project, its standards or your company workflow. If you are unable to find something suitable after searching online, you can always try your hand at creating content items yourself. This would occur in the Revit family editor. But the details of doing so are out of the scope of this document.
There is much more to architectural communication than simply having a building model. We often need to add dimensions, notes and other kinds of annotation to convey our design intent. Such items are created directly in the views within Revit, but often these items remain connected to the underlying model geometry to which they are associated. In this way, changes not only update the model but keep the annotation coordinated as well.
