00:08
Hi, my name is Robert Smith.
00:09
I'm a designated sports specialist here at Autodesk.
00:12
And today, we're going to be talking about how to set up
00:14
a project in BIM360 Docs.
00:16
I hope you enjoy this presentation.
00:17
I look forward to showing you what we can do.
00:19
Before we start, I just want to present the safe harbor
00:22
statement.
00:22
And this is just showing you that any type of functionality
00:25
we may talk about in the future roadmap,
00:28
you shouldn't make purchasing decisions off
00:30
of that because we reserve the right to change
00:32
any of the plans that we currently have.
00:35
So the learning outcomes.
00:36
What do we want to learn today?
00:38
Today, we want to understand document management
00:40
and how it fits into the larger ecosystem in 360.
00:43
And we want you to feel comfortable
00:45
creating your own project, including setting up the folder
00:47
structure in the permissions.
00:49
And we're also going to show how to upload the first set
00:51
of record documents in the box.
00:53
So really, we're going to show you how to get a project going
00:56
and how to get it started.
00:58
So getting started, what are the basic requirements
00:60
that we need in order to use this?
01:02
First, you need a BIM360 Docs design build, coordinate
01:06
or enterprise subscription to BIM360.
01:08
You also need to have your BIM360 account site setup.
01:12
And you also need to have either the iOS or Android application
01:15
if you want to use this application in the field.
01:18
BIM360 document management.
01:20
So let's dive into that application.
01:22
BIM360 platform.
01:24
So first, I wanted to go over BIM360 in general.
01:26
And what BIM360 is is it manages your project
01:30
from the beginning of your lifecycle to the end.
01:32
So whether you're in design, preconstruction,
01:34
field execution, or handover, BIM360
01:36
has modules and applications that
01:38
can manage that entire process.
01:40
We have different packages that we bundle these modules.
01:43
So for example, if you're just in author and collaboration
01:45
detail, maybe you're just using BIM360 design.
01:49
But if you're moving into coordinating these models
01:51
and seeing how everything works together,
01:53
maybe you're using BIM360 Coordinat.
01:55
If you're in the field doing punch list or quality control,
01:59
maybe you're taking advantage of fuel management
02:01
and the capabilities that we have there around quality,
02:04
safety, work coordination.
02:06
And in the handover, if you're an owner managing your ethem
02:10
system, maybe you're looking into using BIM360 Ops.
02:13
Regardless of these, BIM360 Docs is the backbone
02:16
of all of the information.
02:17
So whether you're in design, you're
02:18
going to be using Docs to store your model documents.
02:21
If you're using Build, you're going
02:23
to be storing a lot of your plans
02:25
and your specifications in the application, BIM 360 Docs.
02:29
And Docs includes a few different services and modules
02:32
that we're going to go over.
02:34
The first one it has is document management.
02:36
And so you can see a screenshot of the module there.
02:38
And it's a cloud storage location.
02:40
So any of your 2D plans, your 3D models,
02:43
any type of project documents, you can store them
02:45
have BIM360 Docs where users can log into the website
02:48
and access this.
02:49
It also includes an application that we
02:51
call the Desktop Connector.
02:53
And what Desktop Connector is it's a drive on your machine.
02:56
And you can access certain folders
02:58
in 360 document management for here.
02:60
So whether you're uploading documents like PDFs,
03:02
Word files, or you want to view them or download them,
03:06
you can do that through the Desktop Connector.
03:09
Project home is another module, you'll see in BIM360.
03:12
And this is just going to give you an overview of the project.
03:14
So in this module, we have different cards.
03:17
You can see a few of them there like project address,
03:19
the weather And you can configure these things
03:21
to show different information depending on how you're
03:24
using this in the platform.
03:25
Inside, there's another module where you can have some cards.
03:28
But another functionality that it includes is reports.
03:31
So if you're creating issues, for example,
03:33
you might want to run a report.
03:35
And inside is going to be a module that lets you do that.
03:38
So let's talk about creating your project.
03:41
What you need in order to create a project
03:43
is an account administrator.
03:44
So there's two different levels of permissions in BIM360
03:47
that we'll go over.
03:48
And the first one is an account administrator.
03:50
And they're going to have all of the control over any
03:52
of the information in BIM360.
03:54
And they are the ones that are going to be
03:56
able to create the project.
03:58
The second thing that will need to happen
03:59
is documents management service will need
04:01
to be enabled on the project.
04:03
So the first step will be you create your project.
04:05
The next step will be you activate document management.
04:09
And when you do this, you're going
04:10
to want to have a primary project admin that's
04:13
assigned to the service.
04:14
By default, this will be the account admin
04:16
that's creating the project.
04:18
But we can assign other project admins as well.
04:21
And here's a chart that shows some of the capabilities
04:24
that account admins and BIM360 can do
04:26
as well as project admins.
04:28
And just a comparison between the different tasks.
04:31
So you can see project admins have the ability
04:33
to activate different modules in BIM360 ar different project
04:37
admins.
04:38
But they don't have the ability to delete companies
04:40
from the project, for example, or they don't have the ability
04:43
to archive the project.
04:46
So here's a really simple overview of the process.
04:49
This is a screenshot of account administration.
04:52
And so you'll see next to the module selector,
04:54
those nine dots on the screen shown on the left under the B
04:58
were in the account admin module.
04:59
And so what we've done is we've clicked add
05:01
and this popup shows up that shows Create Project profile.
05:04
The only two required fields are going
05:06
be project name and project type as well as the BIM360 field
05:09
project [INAUDIBLE] if you're using Build.
05:11
Once those two are entered, you can go ahead
05:13
and create your project.
05:14
In the first screen that will pop up is the services page.
05:17
So you can see also we've jumped from account admin
05:20
into the project admin.
05:22
So that just lets you know the project has been created.
05:25
And now we're in services.
05:27
You can see document management right now is unactivated.
05:30
So when we go to click Activate, we're brought to the screen.
05:34
And you'll see what it's asking for is a project template.
05:37
So if you find you're using Docs on multiple projects
05:39
and you want to maintain folder structure with the permissions
05:42
and different settings, you can create a template project.
05:46
And that template project can be referenced
05:48
any time you're activating document
05:49
management in the future.
05:51
Is this your first time creating a project?
05:53
You don't need to apply a template right away.
05:55
You can just like that option to not apply.
05:57
Once document management is activated,
05:59
you'll be brought to the screen of members.
06:01
Here, project admins can add other members just
06:04
by clicking Add.
06:05
And you'll see that it has project admin, document
06:08
management on the icons.
06:10
So when you add somebody, you're going
06:12
to add a company in a role.
06:13
And you'll be able to configure which
06:15
modules they have access to.
06:17
Here's an example of adding a new user.
06:19
So when you click Add, you're brought to the screen.
06:21
And you'll want to enter names or email addresses.
06:23
You can enter multiple at a time.
06:25
And what you'll definitely want to consider doing
06:27
is adding a company and role.
06:30
These are going to be really important later
06:32
when you're setting permissions on folders or issues.
06:35
So it's good to populate them when you're adding the user.
06:38
Now that we've talked about creating the project,
06:40
and activating it, and adding users,
06:42
it's time to get your folders ready for documents.
06:45
You can see now that we're in the document management module.
06:48
And the first thing users usually
06:50
notice is that there's two sections created by default.
06:52
There's plans and project files.
06:55
The way that they behave when uploading documents
06:57
is a little bit different.
06:58
So we're going to take a look at each one.
07:01
The first section, plans, processes PDF and model files.
07:05
And when you're uploading a multipage PDF,
07:07
it's going to extract each page individually.
07:10
When it does that, it also creates hyperlinks
07:12
between the different sheets.
07:14
If you're uploading a Revit file,
07:16
it's going to do Revit sheet extractions.
07:19
So if you have a Revit model and you've
07:20
configured your published settings for different sheets,
07:23
it'll pull those sheets to individual items in the planned
07:25
section.
07:27
Project files is for the viewable model types,
07:30
for Word documents, PDF, any other type of file
07:33
that you need.
07:34
And one of the big differences is
07:36
that these files are accessible in Desktop connector.
07:39
So you can think of plans as kind
07:41
of your set of record documents that you're just
07:43
going to be referencing with auto hyperlinking.
07:46
Project files is going to be a single document.
07:48
If it's multipage PDFs.
07:51
And it's going to be any of the other file
07:52
types that are for project.
07:55
So here's a few things to consider
07:56
when you're thinking about folder structures in 360 Docs.
08:00
The first is iPad storage or mobile storage.
08:03
When you're sinking documents down,
08:05
so you're going to be using a mobile device
08:07
and you're going to be going offline.
08:08
There's a couple of ways to sync documents.
08:10
You can either sink documents individually one by one
08:13
or you can sync it by folder.
08:15
So if you have a large project, you
08:17
might want to break out your sheets into different folders.
08:20
So that it's not eating all of your iPad storage.
08:22
The other thing to consider is that hyperlinking
08:25
is available per folder.
08:27
So if you do have these different sections,
08:29
architectural, structural.
08:31
When you upload documents, it's just
08:33
going to hyperlink within that folder.
08:35
So if you have an architectural sheet for example
08:38
and you upload it to the architecture folder,
08:40
any references to structural won't be involved
08:43
in the hyperlink process.
08:45
The other functionality is auto-versioning.
08:47
So when you're uploading a document to Docs,
08:49
it automatically looks for some fields and auto versions
08:52
documents.
08:53
So you don't need to create a folder for each set
08:55
of documents that you get.
08:57
And the last thing to consider is models.
08:59
So if you are using BIM360 Design, for example,
09:02
all your files are going to be in the project files section.
09:06
If you're using just Docs or you're using Build,
09:09
you may not want your models necessarily in project files.
09:12
You may want that sheet extraction
09:13
to happen in the plans area.
09:15
So these are just a few things to think
09:16
about when you're setting up your folder structure.
09:19
Now we're going to talk about project file
09:21
structure and a little bit of the few things
09:23
to consider here.
09:24
In this case, permissions propagated to sub-folders.
09:27
So this applies to plans too.
09:29
But any permissions that you're applying to these folders
09:31
are going to propagate down to its sub-folders.
09:33
So if we're looking in the project
09:34
files and the screenshot, if I set permissions on share,
09:38
it's going to propagate to everything underneath.
09:40
Permissions can be increased on these sub-folders
09:42
but they can't be restricted.
09:44
So for example, if I set a view only
09:48
on project files for a certain role,
09:51
I can increase that roles permissions on internals.
09:53
But I can't restrict it any further.
09:56
Project files folders are also going to be
09:58
used for template projects.
09:60
So if you have something that you like in one project,
10:02
you can make that a template project so
10:04
that you can use it on others.
10:06
And then the project files area, any of these folder structures
10:09
are going to appear in the Desktop Connector.
10:11
So any files that you need can be accessed there as well.
10:14
Now, we're going to talk about folder
10:15
permissions a little bit.
10:17
Right here, we're showing a different overview
10:19
of the different positions that we have.
10:21
So there are view only, view download.
10:24
We won't go over all of them individually.
10:25
But I did want to put it here for reference
10:27
of the different settings that we have.
10:29
There is an important note at the bottom View
10:31
only permissions do have some limitations.
10:35
They can't view image files.
10:36
And they won't be able to use the Desktop Connector.
10:39
If view settings are not ser to the Bim Viewer,
10:42
PDFs can't be viewed on mobile.
10:43
And we'll talk about what that means in a little bit.
10:46
So folder permissions, let's talk about how to set those.
10:49
So when we're looking in the document management UI,
10:51
you can see your project.
10:53
And what I've done is I have project files.
10:55
There's those three dots next to section
10:57
whenever you hover over it.
10:59
And if we click that, we'll see we're
11:00
brought a contextual menu.
11:02
And so this has a lot of different options for you.
11:04
And one of the big options is permissions, which we're
11:06
going to be talking about.
11:08
Permissions file will appear on the right.
11:10
And you'll see a list of all the permissions
11:12
that have already been applied.
11:13
So in this case, I've already set the subcontractor
11:15
permission as view only.
11:17
Let's say you want to add another one.
11:19
We have the ability to add there.
11:21
And one thing you can see here is that we have the Add New.
11:23
So that we're going to be setting a new commission.
11:25
And we can set that permission level.
11:28
So you can see what I'm doing now is I'm adding a new role.
11:30
So we talked about when we were adding members,
11:33
including companies and roles.
11:34
And this is where it's coming into play.
11:36
It's applying those permissions to roles.
11:38
So anybody with the role architect
11:40
is going to be getting the permission level of you
11:42
download, upload, and edit.
11:43
So they'll be able to view any documents, download any.
11:46
They will be able to upload as well as edit,
11:49
including publishing markups.
11:51
So once I click Add, you can see it applies it to the pop up.
11:54
And if I actually expand it, it'll
11:56
show everybody that belongs to that architect permission.
11:60
So we're able to see who has permissions
12:02
and what their levels are.
12:04
So we'll go through.
12:05
And the best thing to do is to apply your permissions early.
12:07
So as soon as you set up your project,
12:09
apply those permissions.
12:10
And the next thing we're going to be talking about
12:12
is uploading your first plan set.
12:14
So files in the plans folders, these
12:16
can be single or multipage PDFs.
12:19
Revit files are determined by sheets and views
12:21
in the collaborative tab in Revit.
12:23
So if you're using Revit and you go to that collaborative tab,
12:27
you'll see there's a sheet and views set.
12:29
And that set is going to determine which sheets
12:31
come into document management.
12:33
If we're uploading an AutoCAD file,
12:36
the DWG is going to include the layouts and the 3D
12:38
view of them.
12:39
When we upload PDFs, we're going to need to define a layout
12:42
template, which we'll go for.
12:45
And if it is a multipage PDF, it's going to split it up.
12:47
So the icons on the right, you can see, for example.
12:51
Let's consider that top on a multipage PDF.
12:53
We bring it through the plans folder.
12:54
It's going to split up into A101, A102, A103 and hyperlink
12:59
between the three.
12:60
In the UI, you can there's the Upload button.
13:02
So I'm in the plans folder right now.
13:04
Zero in architectural.
13:05
And I want to upload some of the files there.
13:07
So what I'll do is I'll go to upload and click on Files.
13:11
This is the screen that pops up.
13:13
You'll see that a set isn't assigned by default.
13:15
But we can set it to a certain set
13:16
so that we can easily organize the documents.
13:19
We create a set.
13:20
This is our first one.
13:21
So we're going to create a new one
13:23
and we're going to give an issue and state.
13:25
In this example, it's an issue for construction set, the date.
13:28
And now we're ready to get this document processed.
13:31
We don't have any layout templates to find yet.
13:34
We're going to go ahead and do it at the next step.
13:35
So we're just going to leave it as no template for now.
13:38
Once all this is ready, we click Continue.
13:40
And it goes through a processing state.
13:42
And it's going to ask you to define a layout.
13:44
So you can see what it does is it gives you
13:46
a list of the sheets and Doc document.
13:48
And what we're going to want to do
13:50
is find a sheet that's a good representation of all
13:52
the other ones.
13:53
So a lot of times, the title sheet
13:55
doesn't necessarily have all the information.
13:57
You might want to navigate to a document that has a little bit
14:00
better information on it.
14:02
In this case, I'm on the second sheet.
14:04
And you can see what I'm doing is
14:05
I'm highlighting a certain area down on the bottom right.
14:08
So it's an image crop selection.
14:11
And then it's going to bring us over
14:13
to define a little bit more.
14:14
So I have to use that image crop.
14:16
It's going to ask to fill out some information for the title
14:19
block.
14:20
So you can see what I'm doing is I'm having a number and a title
14:23
field.
14:24
And I'm going to grab the title first floor plan.
14:26
And it's a good idea to make these boxes bigger because it
14:29
can vary from sheet to sheet.
14:31
So first floor plan is a small sheet name.
14:33
But some sheet names can get pretty large.
14:35
So the more you can set your title,
14:38
title block fields to be a little bit bigger,
14:40
the better it's going to be.
14:42
Below the set, a number is required.
14:43
And that's because any subsequent uploads
14:46
that we do in this document, it's
14:48
going to version based on that number.
14:50
So any time we upload a future document and this title block
14:54
is reading it, if it reads A1-1, it's
14:56
going to automatically version that document.
14:59
After you set that layout template,
15:00
that layout template's going to go through each sheet
15:03
and pull those out automatically.
15:05
So it's going to bring you to this final screen here.
15:07
So and then just telling you this is the information
15:10
that we found while we were extracting this information.
15:13
So in the screenshot, you can see for A1-4,
15:17
they brought that information over
15:19
through our OCR as well as the title.
15:22
It's a good idea to scroll through this the first time
15:24
just to make sure everything looks OK.
15:26
And then you can click Publish All.
15:28
Once that's done, you can see all the documents
15:30
here uploaded and ready to be viewed.
15:33
I also wanted to go over what it looks like for model files.
15:36
So rather DWG or IFC files can all be uploaded.
15:40
And if we're doing a Revit file, you'll
15:42
see in the not collaborate tab in Revit like we talked about.
15:45
And I'm in the publish settings.
15:47
And in that publish settings, it has different sets.
15:51
And so in this case, it's the 100% CD set.
15:54
So that's the set that I'm selecting
15:56
when I'm saving this file.
15:58
And then you can choose which sheets and views to upload.
16:02
So if you have certain views for example, a 3D view of level 1,
16:06
a 3D view of level 2, you can go ahead and set that.
16:09
So that when you're uploading these document to Docs,
16:11
those sheets and views are automatically uploaded as well.
16:15
For DWG uploads, it's going to post the layouts and the model
16:18
view.
16:19
So you can see in the bottom left,
16:21
I have that model view and the T layouts.
16:23
So it's automatically going to get through those by default.
16:25
You only need to go into the file
16:27
and put any settings in there.
16:30
If we're going to be using Revit links.
16:31
So let's say you have a Revit architectural file or Revit
16:35
structural file, or Revit NET file
16:37
and you want to upload all of these with the links involved,
16:41
you can go ahead and upload the file with linked files.
16:44
So that's why there's a second option.
16:45
There's upload files, which is what you're always
16:48
going to use for PDFs.
16:49
If you're going to be using models that have links in it,
16:51
you can use that upload of linked files.
16:53
And when you do that, it's going to bring all of them in there.
16:56
So in this example, there's an architectural, structural,
16:59
and MVP.
16:59
It's going to ask for the parent file
17:01
where it's going to look for those links.
17:03
So you just need to make sure that you're
17:04
setting the right one.
17:05
And then it's going to process all of those and bring them in.
17:08
So that when you look at a particular sheet,
17:10
you're going to be seeing the architectural, the MVP,
17:13
as well as the structural.
17:15
And also if we're just doing individual models
17:18
so they're not linked, we can just use that upload files.
17:21
We don't have to use the linked files.
17:23
And this is what it's going to look like.
17:25
So for Revit, you'll notice the layout template is not
17:28
applicable.
17:29
And the reason that it's not applicable
17:31
is because it's going to automatically
17:32
pull that sheet title out.
17:34
So you don't need to go through and do layout template
17:36
if you're uploading.
17:38
You can notice that it looks a little bit different.
17:41
So when you're uploading a Revit model,
17:42
it's pulling out the number as well as the title.
17:46
And it's putting everything in the name column.
17:48
So the title is blank.
17:49
It's all going to that name section.
17:51
So it looks a little bit different.
17:53
But it has the same information.
17:55
Now we'll jump over to the product
17:57
to take a look at what it looks like live.
17:59
So let's start out in the account admin module.
18:02
This is the project directory so it's
18:04
going to show a list of all the projects
18:05
that you've already created.
18:07
When I was adding a project, I was just clicking this.
18:10
And you can see it's just bringing up
18:11
the project profile.
18:13
So you can type in a project name and a project type.
18:15
I won't go through the process, I already
18:17
have a project created.
18:18
But I did want to show you the layout here a little bit.
18:21
So let me click Cancel.
18:24
And I'm going to go to one of the projects
18:26
that I've already set up.
18:27
So I'm going to go into BIM360 document management.
18:31
And I've added a couple of members here.
18:33
If I go over to services, you'll notice
18:36
that they do have document management active.
18:39
Another thing to note is that if you're
18:41
using a different module, so let's say,
18:43
you're using Autodesk Build and using field management.
18:46
If I just activate this service for Docs,
18:49
it's going to automatically activate Docs as well.
18:52
So you can activate other modules first.
18:54
But it's always going to activate document management.
18:58
When I go over to members, you can see up to here.
19:01
And we have different icons depending on the access.
19:05
So since I'm the admin here, I have access to all the modules.
19:09
And that's going to be true for any project admin.
19:11
They're always going to have access
19:13
to every single module that's activated.
19:16
When you're not an admin, then you're just a member.
19:18
You can restrict access to these different modules.
19:21
So we're just talking about document management right now.
19:23
But you can see for insight, for example,
19:25
I can restrict their access so they have zero access.
19:32
Switch over to document management now.
19:36
So I've already set up a folder structure.
19:39
But all I did was I went here.
19:40
For example, the three dots, there's Add subfolders.
19:43
So whenever you add a subfolder, it just
19:45
pops up like you would see in Windows Explorer for example.
19:47
And you just go through and set up here from folder structure
19:50
like you need to.
19:53
For permissions, this is the plans folder.
19:56
So like I talked about, we go to these three dots.
19:59
And there's permissions here.
20:02
You can see what I've done is I've applied a subcontractor
20:04
permission as view only.
20:06
And I've done this here at the plans level.
20:08
And we can tell that because if we come down
20:10
to PDF, for example, you can see it shows inherited.
20:15
So that just means that this permission
20:16
for this folder for the subcontractor, that
20:19
actually came from these plans.
20:21
It was inherited down.
20:23
Like I talked about, we can increase these if we want to.
20:26
You just can't restrict them.
20:29
We also have a drop down so you can
20:30
see who is part of that role.
20:33
If there's conflicting permissions.
20:35
So let's say, Molly Bloom, for example, was a subcontractor
20:38
but she was also field QA manager that had permissions.
20:42
Whatever the highest one is is the one that Molly Bloom is
20:45
going to [INAUDIBLE]
20:52
So I have two folders here set up.
20:54
I have PDF and RVT just to show you what
20:56
it looks like a little bit.
20:59
So when I set these up, I went through the title block
21:01
process.
21:02
And we can actually access these title blocks
21:04
that we've set up later from here.
21:06
So let's go to PDF.
21:08
And let's go to title block to show you what that looks like.
21:12
Set the default title block.
21:13
So when I uploaded this document,
21:16
all I did was I set the title and I set the number.
21:18
So for that number, I went here.
21:21
And you'll see there's different icons here.
21:24
And so what that is is if you have a vertical title block,
21:26
for example, someone wrote the title and it's going this way,
21:30
we can go ahead and set that here to show as vertical.
21:33
Just so that the OCR is reading in the right direction.
21:36
So if you notice, it looks a little bit strange.
21:38
When you set these, it might be the orientation.
21:41
You just need to set it to the right one.
21:44
Just click Send.
21:49
In this section, you can see we have
21:51
all the different documents.
21:52
And you can see we have deleted items.
21:54
So if someone comes in here and they delete these documents,
21:57
for example, we can always restore them from here.
22:00
Deleted items can always be restored.
22:03
There's no way to permanently delete a document.
22:05
You can always come into deleted items and restore.
22:07
So I don't believe I have any deleted items.
22:09
But if there were they would show up here.
22:11
And a project admin can restore them.
22:18
And if we look at the Revit files,
22:19
you'll see that those titles came in.
22:22
And these were the ones that were defined in those published
22:24
settings.
22:25
So in this one, I defined, I think,
22:27
pretty much all the sheets that came in as well as the 3D view.
22:31
So I can go ahead and click into that 3D view.
22:34
And it should show all the geometry in that project.
22:41
For project files, I also uploaded the Revit file here
22:45
to show you how it's different.
22:46
So in this one, you can see it's one file.
22:49
It didn't split them out individually.
22:51
But if I click into them , you can see it's showing sheets
22:54
and views.
22:55
So that 3D view is here.
22:57
But I also did the 2D views.
22:59
It's just all within this one file.
23:01
So you can still navigate to all the sheets
23:03
that you need to look at.
23:04
And look at the 3D view.
23:05
It's just not splitting the individual pages.
23:09
And so what are the advantages of doing that between plans
23:13
and project files?
23:15
In project files, you can see markup in issue, for example.
23:19
You'll see the same thing up here.
23:22
So it's really how you want to look at these.
23:25
If you want to go through a formal view process
23:28
and you want to look at it per sheet,
23:30
maybe you think about doing it in plans
23:32
so that you can see how many issues or markups are there.
23:36
If it's a living document and you want everybody
23:39
to access the sheets within one file,
23:41
you can do it in project files.
23:42
It's kind of up to you in your project and what you prefer.
23:48
Also uploaded the multipage PDF here
23:51
so you can see it's one file.
23:52
And again if I click into that, you'll
23:54
see all the sheets are available in there as well.
23:57
It's just all one file.
23:59
So any issues, markups are all going
24:01
to be within this one file compared
24:03
to the planned section, where it's
24:07
broken out individual ones.
24:11
So really, it's up to you how you
24:13
want to configure your project and do your reviews.
24:16
There are a couple of ways to do it.
24:18
It's just what's going to work better for you.
24:20
The other thing to mention is with project files,
24:23
those are going to be available in the Desktop Connector.
24:26
So if I go to Desktop connecter, I
24:27
can view Open and download all of these files through there.
24:33
We also talked about project home and insight.
24:36
So let's take a look really quick at what those look like.
24:39
So this is our project home module.
24:41
You can see project address here.
24:43
This was set by the project admin.
24:46
And it just shows an overview of where this project is.
24:49
The other one we have by default is the weather.
24:51
So this is pulling from the project address as well.
24:54
We use dark skies, our weather provider.
24:57
And we have all these other cards.
24:58
So that as this project evolves and we start adding issues,
25:03
these are all going to start popping up here.
25:04
So if I go to Customize, what we have is a card library.
25:09
So I'll go ahead and click that.
25:12
And so we have filters.
25:13
So this is showing all the cards that are available.
25:15
All right, design, risk review, factors.
25:18
So this is using some of our machine learning capabilities
25:21
to look at the different issues that we're applying
25:23
and categorize them.
25:25
We also can show the list of issues
25:27
so that you can quickly see if any issues are assigned
25:29
to you and your company.
25:30
It'll look for if you want to see all the issues
25:33
in the project there.
25:36
And we also have project design.
25:37
And what that is is you can set a 3D view of the model
25:40
to automatically show in this project home area, if you like.
25:44
As well as a lot of partner cards that we have.
25:47
So if, for example, you have a Domo that you're using,
25:50
PowerBI.
25:52
If you're using Holo Builder on a project,
25:54
you can set up cards so that everybody can view those here
25:56
if they'd like to.
25:58
These are configured by person.
26:00
So each person can configure their own project home.
26:04
It's not something that a project admin
26:06
sets for everybody.
26:07
Everybody can customize it to the way
26:08
that they want to see it.
26:12
So let me go ahead and cancel that.
26:16
We also talked about insight.
26:18
So you can see insight also has some of the same cards
26:22
that we can configure here.
26:24
These will populate based on which modules you have active.
26:28
But the other one that we talked about was reports.
26:33
So this is the reporting tab, where
26:35
users can come and create reports
26:36
since they're project admins.
26:39
So that's the presentation we have
26:40
today on setting up your project,
26:42
creating your folder structure, and setting
26:44
permissions, and uploading your first set of documents
26:46
to BIM360.
26:49
Just to recap what we talked about.
26:51
We learned how BIM360 document management fits
26:53
into the overall plan 360 eco-system
26:56
and all the modules available with Docs.
26:58
So for example, the project home, insight,
26:60
Desktop connecter.
27:02
We learn the differences between plans and project files.
27:04
So what happens when you upload a document to plans
27:06
compared to what happens when you upload
27:08
a document to project files.
27:10
And we get a few ideas to consider when creating
27:12
these folder structures.
27:14
We also went through permissions.
27:15
So setting permissions on our folders
27:17
to control who can access and upload certain areas based
27:20
on company and role.
27:22
And we also went through uploading first plan set,
27:24
so whether you're uploading PDF or a Revit file.
27:26
And how members can now view these sets
27:28
of documents for a project.
27:31
So that was our presentation on how to set up
27:33
a project in BIM360 Docs.
27:35
Hope this information helps.
27:37
Thanks for watching.
Video transcript
00:00
[MUSIC PLAYING]
03:24
using this in the platform.
