Create submittal items

  1. From Autodesk Build, click Submittals on the left navigation menu (Figure 19, mark 1). Click the Items tab (Figure 19, mark 2) and then click Create Item (Figure 19, mark 3) to open the Create Item form.

  1. Create the following three individual Submittal items (Figure 20, marks 1, 2, and 3) with the fields as shown in the table below:

  1. Upon creation of each of the Submittal items above, the initial status will be Open-Submitted and your teacher will be notified via email that you have assigned the item to them.
  2. As part of the review process, your teacher will be assigning your three Submittal items to a package with a title bearing your name (last, first). Once this is completed, you will be able to quickly locate and track your Submittal items by going to the Packages tab (Figure 21, mark 1) and clicking on the package with your name in the Title column (Figure 21, mark 2).  This will open a window that contains only your Submittal items.

Another method for locating and tracking your Submittal items is to go to the Items tab (Figure 22, mark 1) and sort the list by the Title column header (Figure 22, mark 2) by clicking on it. Since you included your name (last, first) at the start of your Submittal item titles, the Items will group by student.

Stop: Wait for your teacher’s response before moving on to the next step. You will receive an email notification for each of your Submittal items.

Review unapproved and approved submittals

  1. Unapproved submittals: If a Submittal item(s) has not been accepted by your teacher, you will be notified via email and the status of the Submittal item will be listed as Required – Waiting for Submission. Review feedback from your teacher as to why the item was not approved.
    1. Open the Submittal item by clicking on it in the list (Figure 23, mark 1). If you made an error with the information you entered about the Submittal item, edit the information as needed by hovering over the applicable fields and clicking the pencil icon to edit (Figure 24, mark 1).

    3. The Manager field (Figure 26, mark 3) should show your teacher’s name. Add any notes if desired, then click Done (Figure 26, mark 4) to put the updated Submittal item back in your teacher’s court. 4. Repeat previous steps as needed until all your Submittal items are approved by your teacher.
