Create a Federated Model – Practice Exercise
Task 1: Installing Desktop Connector
- From the Autodesk Desktop Connector page, download it.
- Install the downloaded file.
- Open the File Explorer window and then click on This PC; the Desktop Connector shows Autodesk Docs as a local drive, as shown below:
Task 2: Creating Federated Model
- Start Autodesk Navisworks.
- From the Home ribbon tab > Project ribbon panel, click Append; the Append dialog box is displayed.
- From the left navigation, click This PC; various mapped drives will be listed in the right pane of the dialog box, as shown below:
- Double-click Autodesk Docs > Your Account > Project > Project Files and browse to the folder where the Structure project model is hosted.
- Double-click on the Structure model to append it in Navisworks, as shown below:
- Repeat the process to append other discipline models.
- Delete the default viewpoints.
- Create a viewpoint to show the entire model and another viewpoint to show the model without the Architecture discipline, as shown below:
Task 3: Saving the NWF File on Docs
- From the Quick Access Toolbar, click Save.
- Using the Desktop Connector, browse to the folder in the Autodesk Docs project where you want to save the NWF file.
- Name the file Hospital-Federated and save it.
