Transcript
00:03
You start a new Autodesk Civil 3D drawing using a template file.
00:08
From the Start tab, use the New drop-down list to select Browse.
00:14
From the template folder location, select the relevant template, and then click Open.
00:21
A default drawing template can also be set from a desktop icon or within your user profile.
00:28
An Autodesk Civil 3D drawing template can contain standard AutoCAD information,
00:35
such as settings and layers, and AutoCAD objects, such as lines and text.
00:41
In addition, a template can include any Civil 3D drawing information that is listed in either the Settings tree
00:49
(including Civil 3D settings, styles, label styles, tables, description keys, and point import/export formats),
00:59
or the Prospector tree (including any Civil 3D objects, such as point groups, surfaces, etc.).
01:08
Default imperial and metric drawing templates are included with Civil 3D, and are based on the U.S. National CAD Standard (NCS).
01:19
These templates contain an extended set of styles and settings.
01:24
If you base a new drawing on a non-Autodesk Civil 3D drawing template,
01:29
such as acad.dwt, then basic styles named “Standard” are created by default in the new drawing.
01:39
The QNEW command, available from the Quick Access Toolbar,
01:44
automatically uses the template specified in the AutoCAD Options dialog.
01:49
Drawing templates for plan production tools are included in the Plan Production directory.
01:56
These are sheets configured to automate road plan, profile, and cross-section drawing production.
