Set a coordinate system for working in Civil 3D.

It is good practice to set your Civil 3D coordinate system at the beginning of a project,

but it can also be set or changed during the design process.

To assign a coordinate system, from the Home or View tab, in the Palettes panel, click Toolspace.

Switch to the Settings tab. Right-click on the DWG title and select Edit Drawing Settings.

In the Drawing Settings dialog, switch to the Units and Zone tab.

In the Zone section, use the Categories drop-down list to specify the geographic zone or country.

From the Available coordinate systems list, select the coordinate system within the selected zone category.

A coordinate system is now assigned to the current drawing, and the Geolocation tab is displayed in the ribbon.
