Create and design with arcs in AutoCAD

Create different types of arcs as individual objects.

00:04

Arcs are constant radius sections of circles.

00:07

There are many different options available for creating arcs

00:12

in poly lines, arcs can be created as part of the Polyline.

00:16

But you can also create arcs as individual objects,

00:20

which can be useful for gaining more control. During editing

00:25

in this video, you'll see how to create arcs as individual objects.

00:29

Let's briefly go through a couple of different types of arcs available

00:34

and demonstrate these on a swimming pool. Example

00:39

to access the ARCS command,

00:41

go to the home tab,

00:43

the draw panel

00:44

and click on the arc

00:46

drop down

00:48

regardless of which command is used.

00:50

All commands create AUTOCAD arcs.

00:55

Now let's get started on our example,

00:58

the pool will be placed in the upper right hand corner of the yard layout

01:03

to get started. I'll first ensure that the po layer is set current.

01:08

Now I will look at a couple options to create arcs

01:13

for this first piece.

01:15

We'll go ahead and use the start and direction option.

01:21

This is one of the easiest arc commands to use as

01:24

you click points and move the mouse to adjust the arc,

01:29

click the start point,

01:32

then click the end point

01:34

and then move your mouse in the direction

01:37

that you want the ark to be

01:40

click and place it.

01:42

And now you have created your first arc

01:45

in cases where you need to specify a specific radius value.

01:50

The start and radius option

01:54

might be your best command.

01:57

For this example,

01:58

the star point will be the end point of the arc that was previously created.

02:04

Then we'll go ahead and click an end point

02:10

and then type in a radius value for this example of 10

02:15

and click enter.

02:17

And as you can see the arc was created

02:20

based on the radius value that we specified in the command.

02:27

I can continue to add arcs as needed

02:30

to be able to finish the outline of the pool.
