We're now going to create a drawing to produce cross
00:06
sections along the Mcallister Boulevard Design Corridor for publishing.
00:11
When we create cross sections,
00:13
we can read information through an X ref for surfaces and corridors.
00:18
So we can use our plan and profile sheet master
00:21
to provide the section information we need
00:25
from the insert ribbon tab
00:27
reference panel. Choose attach
00:31
browse to your project production drawings folder,
00:34
select the plan profile master drawing and choose open
00:40
in the attached external reference dialogue.
00:42
Make sure specify on screen is not selected for any of the options
00:47
and then click, OK.
00:49
Use zoom
00:50
exense to view the inserted X
00:52
ref
00:53
to create our sample lines. We need the centerline alignment.
00:57
We cannot use this through the X
00:59
ref
00:60
to
01:00
bring in the alignment from prospector,
01:03
expand data shortcuts,
01:05
then expand alignments
01:08
and then the centerline alignments collections.
01:12
Select mcallister boulevard, right click and choose create reference,
01:18
accept the default styles and click. OK.
01:22
Now from the home ribbon profile and section views panel,
01:26
select sample lines,
01:30
press enter to select the alignment from a list.
01:33
There is only one choice so select the alignment and click. OK.
01:39
In the crate sample line group dialogue,
01:41
change the name to mcallister boulevard cross sections.
01:45
We will accept the default sample line and label style defaults
01:51
the select data source to sample list shows the objects that were found in the X
01:56
ref
01:57
note, all of them are selected for sampling,
02:00
change the style of the finished ground surface
02:03
to finished ground
02:05
set. The codes set style of the corridors to line work only.
02:09
This code set includes shape styles that we use in our cross sections.
02:16
We will use solid color fill for our sections.
02:18
But for a traditional line work drawing,
02:20
you may want to swap this for hatch patterns.
02:24
Click OK to save the styles.
02:27
Now as I move the mouse in the drawing,
02:29
you can see a red line is anchored to the alignment
02:32
and it's asking on the command line for us to pick
02:35
a station on the alignment where we want a section,
02:39
we want to create our sections using an interval.
02:44
Click on the sample line creation button, pull down as shown
02:47
and choose by range of stations
02:52
in the station range dialogue. You can set the frequency and width of the sections.
02:57
We are creating sections along the entire length of the alignment from start to end,
03:04
set, the left swathe width and right swathe
03:07
width to 100 ft.
03:10
Set the sampling increments to 100 ft along tangents and curves.
03:17
We will add additional sections at the start and
03:19
end of ranges and at horizontal geometry points,
03:24
click OK. And the sample lines are added to the drawing
03:29
press escape to end the command.
03:32
Now review the sample lines and their labels.
03:37
Now we will generate our cross section views.
