Transcript
00:03
In the Designer app, once the Input Data is set up—including Groups, Actions, Constraints, Operating Conditions, and Options—
00:12
you can run the optimization routine.
00:15
From the Run menu, click Start, or click the Run button.
00:19
Designer automatically switches to the Simulation view.
00:22
While the Designer run is in progress, the status of the evaluation is reported under Trial Progress.
00:29
The Performance for Current Generation area displays the performance costs and violations for the current option being tested.
00:36
Under Simulation Performance, you see the best solution currently found.
00:42
Look for messages in the Message Board.
00:44
This area shows a notification upon successful completion of the activated commands or any errors pertinent to the simulation.
00:52
If the simulation run is unsuccessful, a description appears explaining what needs to be corrected in the Input Data.
01:00
The Output Report view is available after completing a successful Designer run.
01:05
The Summary report displays the simulation run status,
01:09
the cost associated with the best solution reached, and maximum values for any boundary constraints exceeded.
01:16
It also shows any penalty cost levied from exceeding boundary constraints,
01:21
and the total length of all the pipes affected by the findings of the Designer run.
01:25
Ideally, you would want to see no penalty costs in the Summary report.
01:30
If you do see values in the Penalty Cost column,
01:34
you can investigate to see where to increase the penalty multipliers in your Input Data, and then rerun the simulation.
01:40
Depending on how many solutions you requested in the Designer Options, you can also see a detailed report for each solution.
01:48
These reports are broken down into the same groupings as your Input Data.
01:53
You can also view details on individual pipes, pumps, and tanks.
01:59
Look through these reports for Designer recommendations and potential violations.
