Get started with Machine Connect for Fusion

Connect a machine profile, set up a Machine Connect Gateway, connect a machine, and set up file transfer.

To set up Autodesk Fusion Machine Connect for the first time,

navigate to your Autodesk Fusion Team hub by visiting login.autodesk360.com.

Once you are logged in, select Machine Connect.

Please note, this only appears if you have a Machine Connect license assigned to the owner of the team hub.

A Machine Connect welcome message displays that summarizes the three-step process.

Click Start to connect your first machine.

On the Create Machine Profile page, enter information about the machine you would like to connect.

First, add an image that represents your machine.

Then, in the Name field, enter a name for the machine.

All other fields are optional, but in this example, the machine’s location is also entered.

Once you have entered all the information you want, click Create.

In this first step, you must designate the purpose for the connection,

and there are two types: data collection and file transfer.

Expand the drop-down and specify the purpose of the connection.

In this instance, Data collection is chosen.

Click Next.

Here, you need to set up a Machine Connect Gateway, which, once installed,

handles the communication with your machine tools.

In the Name field, enter a name for the gateway.

Optionally, you can also enter a description.

Then, click Next.

Here, a message indicates the requirements of the install of the on-premises software.

Be sure to read this information carefully.

You will need to run the Machine Connect Gateway on a Windows PC that is always on

and can communicate with your machine tools.

This could be your current machine, or a different device, such as a server.

Often, it is your shop floor computer.

When you are ready to perform the install, click Download software.

Then, follow the installation instructions on the desired PC.

Once the Machine Connect Gateway installation has been completed,

the next step is to connect the shop floor computer to your Fusion Team hub.

To do so, click Copy Gateway Settings.

Then, paste the settings into the Machine Connect Gateway.

Copy the registration key and paste this into your Machine Connect Gateway as well.

When the connection is established, close the Machine Connect Gateway, and then click Next.

Once the Machine Connect Gateway is connected, the Gateway status shows as Connected and you can click Finish.

A success message displays.

Now, to connect your machine profiles to a CNC machine, click Connect machine.

You are prompted to choose the purpose of the first connection.

Again, you can choose either data collection or file transfer.

Here, Data collection is selected.

Now, expand the Gateway drop-down and specify which connector to use for connecting the machine profile to the CNC machine.

Enter the connection information for your machine control,

including machine controller, connection type, connection address, and connection port.

When you have selected the appropriate connection type,

Once you have completed entering the details, click Next.

The machine is now connected.

With the machine connected, you can set up file transfer.

From the Machine page, File Transfer section, select Set up connection.

Like before, you need to select the appropriate controller and connection type for your machine.

But this time, choose File Share.

Enter the connection path, and then click Next.

Your machine should now be fully connected.

To view a live status, open the Machines tab.

Open the Reports tab to review information about the activity of the machine.
