The Excel Add-in for Tandem allows you to import, export, and synchronize data between Microsoft Excel and Autodesk Tandem.
00:12
This add-in provides an easy way to check, update, and add asset data,
00:19
particularly if you are already comfortable with the Excel interface and functionality.
00:24
Please note that the Excel add-in does require 64-bit Excel to work properly.
00:31
Also, you can download the add-in from the Tandem Help page.
00:36
With the add-in installed, open a workbook in Excel, and on the ribbon, click the added Autodesk Tandem tab.
00:44
Expand the Sign In drop-down and select Sign In.
00:49
Once you enter your credentials, the ribbon refreshes.
00:53
To open a facility, if you need to switch accounts, expand the Accounts drop-down and select Switch Account.
01:01
Then, click Facilities.
01:04
Note that you can also change accounts here, if needed.
01:08
In this example, the Snowdon Towers Sample Facility is selected.
01:13
Then, click Open.
01:16
With the facility open, the options on the ribbon that were previously grayed out are now available.
01:23
In the Show Data panel, there are two options for loading assets and asset data.
01:29
You can either use a saved view, or you can apply filters.
01:34
The filtering options are identical to those in the Tandem filter panel.
01:40
These allow you to set up your own custom filtering criteria.
01:44
First, load the data from a saved facility view.
01:48
From the ribbon, Show Data group, select Data by View.
01:54
If the saved views list does not include the option you want, try clicking Refresh to update the list.
02:02
For this example, select View for Doors, and then click Open.
02:08
Once the view is loaded, the ribbon updates with more options, and the spreadsheet populates with the data.
02:15
The sheet name reflects the name of the view.
02:18
Notice that the cells are two different colors.
02:22
The grayed-out cells cannot be edited or changed, as it is a protected sheet.
02:28
However, you can edit any of the other data as needed.
02:33
To load asset data that is not part of a saved view, you can apply filters and select assets manually.
02:40
From the Show Data panel, click Data by filters.
02:45
In this case, a filter for a space named “Cafe 101” is applied, and Doors are deselected.
02:53
Once the filters are selected, click Open.
02:57
A new sheet named "Filtered Tandem Data” opens
03:02
and displays any assets that match the criteria selected.
03:07
If you need to update any data, you can do so.
03:11
In this instance, the Classification of three assets is changed.
03:16
After making the changes, from the ribbon, Mutations panel, click Changes to view the change history.
03:26
Here, you can expand entries to verify the changes,
03:30
and if you decide not to keep a change, such as the one for row 4, you can delete it.
03:36
Otherwise, click Upload to apply the changes and update the sheet.
03:42
Notice that the deleted change has been undone and is back to C instead of B10.
03:49
These changes will be reflected in Tandem as well.
03:53
Optionally, from the Settings group, you can enable Auto sync changes to sync the data.
03:59
Moving on to the Data Mapping panel, click Facility Templates to open a facility template for the account.
04:08
In this example, Autodesk Learning is selected.
04:12
Click Open, and a new sheet opens, where you see Code, Description, Level, and Parameters.
04:21
Double-click a cell to assign or remove parameters.
04:26
Here again, the grayed-out cells cannot be edited.
04:31
Additionally, you can edit Classifications from the Data Mapping panel.
04:36
Again, select Autodesk Learn, and a new sheet opens.
04:42
Here, you can change the code, description, and level,
04:45
but the headers must remain unchanged to ensure correct uploading back to Tandem.
04:51
You can also edit parameters.
04:54
From the Data Mapping panel, click Parameters.
04:57
To open a sheet with all parameters, in the Select Parameters dialog, choose Select All, then click Done.
05:07
If you need to create new parameters for Tandem, open the Parameters dialog again and click New.
05:15
This opens another sheet with only the column headers.
05:19
To enter data, either type the information into the cells directly, or double-click a cell to open the relevant dialog,
05:27
where you can enter the data, and then click Done.
05:30
Here, double-clicking in each of the columns opens either a dialog or a Validation results message;
05:38
based on the Yes/No data type, some of these values are not required.
05:44
Once your data is entered, from the Sync panel, click Validate.
05:51
Click OK to close the validation message, and then click Upload.
05:55
Now, open Tandem to review the new parameter.
05:59
From the Manage page, select the Parameters and search for the parameter you just created.
06:06
In this case, type “tag”, and you see it in the list of found parameters.
06:12
Now, open the Facilities page and select the Snowdon Towers Sample Facility.
06:18
In the Filters panel, select Café 101, and then open the Inventory panel.
06:26
Notice that no assets are listed, because, in this case, you need to clear any set filters.
06:35
Open the Filter rows dialog, click Clear filters, and the assets for Cafe 101 display.
06:43
Here, you can confirm that the changes you made in Excel were synced back to Tandem.
06:49
In this case, you see the Classification column; and remember that some of these were changed.
06:55
When you open the History panel and expand a specific item,
07:00
you see the change that was made from the Excel add-in,
07:04
which indicates that these are being synced.
07:08
Back in the Excel add-in, realize that you can change the view of elements here.
07:14
To adjust the columns that are being displayed. On the Settings panel, click Columns.
07:21
In the Edit Columns dialog, you can add or remove columns.
07:26
For example, click Delete next to the GUID column, and then click Update.
07:32
When the sheet refreshes, that column is hidden.
07:35
You can also view the history in Excel.
07:39
Click View History, then select an item on the sheet for details on any changes that were made.
07:45
The Excel add-in leverages the familiar interface of Excel
07:49
to make digital twin asset data more accessible and manageable.
