The Revit Add-in for Tandem provides a connection between your Revit model and the associated Tandem facility.
00:10
This enables you to access and edit asset properties and parameter mapping from within either program,
00:17
and edits made are synced between the two products.
00:20
Please note that to utilize this plugin, you must have both a Revit license and a Tandem account.
00:27
To access the Revit add-in, navigate to the Tandem Revit Add-in Help page, and then download the installer.
00:35
Once the Add-in is installed, in Revit, open the project that you will be working on, and open any view of the model.
00:44
Select an object, and then, from the ribbon, open the Autodesk Tandem tab.
00:50
The first time you do this, you are prompted to log in to the add-in.
00:55
After logging in, click Facility and the Select Facility dialog displays.
01:02
Choose the facility that the open Revit model is in, and then click Open.
01:08
In the Select Model dialog, expand the Model drop-down, and in the list of models that make up the facility, select the current model.
01:19
Click Open.
01:21
The ribbon updates with a few more options.
01:24
Select Properties to open the Tandem properties panel,
01:28
where you can access Properties and Mapping tabs that mirror the information in Tandem.
01:34
From the ribbon, you can also access Account Admin.
01:39
This allows you to view and modify the Tandem facility, modify or upload content, invite others, edit permissions, or delete the facility.
01:50
You can edit asset properties from your Revit model or the Tandem facility, and the Add-in will keep these updates synced between the two.
01:58
As an example, in the Tandem Properties panel, you see that the selected System Panel does not have a classification assigned.
02:08
Expand the Classification drop-down, then navigate to and select the appropriate classification—in this case, Misc Equipment.
02:19
Now, open the same facility in Tandem.
02:23
With that same object selected, in the Properties panel, the classification you assigned in Revit has updated accordingly.
02:32
The reverse is also true: if you edit properties from Tandem, the edit is automatically synced in Revit.
02:40
For instance, under Relationships, click the Settings icon next to Rooms.
02:46
From the Available Rooms dialog, select any unassigned room, and then click Update.
02:54
The room relationship updates.
02:57
Return to Revit and review the Tandem Properties panel.
03:01
Here, under Relationships, the recently assigned room is now listed.
03:07
To summarize, when an object is selected for Tandem properties,
03:11
edits and updates are automatically synced between Tandem and Revit in both directions.
03:17
You can also edit and sync parameter mapping, but this requires an extra approval step in Revit.
03:24
Return to Tandem and open the Assets tab.
03:29
Under Parameters, expand General, where there are already two parameters mapped.
03:36
In this instance, the Tandem parameter Vendor Name is populated to the Revit Comments parameter.
03:43
In the Asset Properties panel, under General, enter text into the Vendor Name field and then press ENTER.
03:51
Open Revit again.
03:53
In the Tandem Properties panel, the Vendor Name updates accordingly.
03:57
However, because this is a mapped parameter, it must be approved before it will be reflected in the Revit Properties panel.
04:06
Currently, under Identity Data, you see that the Comments field is blank.
04:11
To approve this parameter, in the Tandem Properties panel, open the Mapping tab.
04:18
Expand the available options and ensure that the appropriate parameter is selected—
04:24
—in this case, the one that was just populated with Autodesk Tandem Vendor.
04:30
Then, click Apply.
04:32
In the Revit Properties panel, the Comments field is now updated accordingly.
04:38
Note that this approval is not required in the other direction.
04:42
Revit properties mapped to Tandem properties automatically sync to the Tandem facility.
04:48
However, again, parameters edited in Tandem and then sent to Revit need to be approved and applied.
04:56
The purpose of this extra step is to keep the authoring Revit model as accurate as possible.
05:03
Now you can use the Revit Add-in to edit and synchronize asset data between Revit and Tandem,
05:09
ensuring seamless integration and up-to-date information across both platforms.
