Better Coffee in 12 Minutes, not 12 Hours
Coffee aficionados prize cold brew for its smooth, crisp taste — which can’t be replicated with traditional brewing methods that rely on boiling water. Even better, cold brew will retain its flavor for weeks when refrigerated.
Until now, there’s been one key drawback, namely that cold brew has taken 12 to 24 hours of steeping to attain optimal flavor. Now, though, members of the FirstBuild design community (backed by GE) have developed technology that reduces brewing time to 12 minutes. No more waiting for your hit of caffeinated deliciousness!
What’s Your Best Cold Brew Coffeemaker Design?
Autodesk has joined forces with FirstBuild and GE to support the Indiegogo campaign to create a better cold brew coffeemaker. Your challenge is to incorporate the key technical components of the cold brew system — water tank, lid, retainer ring, carafe, and power-on/completed interactions — using all of your stellar design skills.
Your next steps are simple:
- See the challenge brief and complete requirements at the FirstBuild site.
- Get more background on FirstBuild and its hugely successful Indiegogo campaigns.
- If you don’t already have it, download Autodesk Fusion 360 so you can start designing.
Winners will receive cash prizes of up to $5,000, along with other perks that you won’t want to miss, including a trip to the FirstBuild microfactory in Kentucky.
We can’t wait to see your best design!
