Learn about the different ways to collaborate and how cloud-based CAD/CAM software enables the most productive digital collaboration.

Over the past several years, corporations around the globe have tried different methods of collaboration. However, it is interesting to study the lasting effects the pandemic had on collaboration and individual contributions in the workplace. Whether you work from home permanently, are back in the office full-time, or are lucky enough to have some mix of the two, it’s safe to say that we probably will not return to the days predating the pandemic.

And why should we?

Remote working and allowing flexible, hybrid at-home and in-office routines boost morale, collaboration, and overall success. But that is not the focus of this article. Instead, let’s zoom in and look at how Autodesk Fusion 360 helps you work from wherever you desire.

Why is Collaboration Important?

Collaboration is non-negotiable in most creative workplaces because it leads to more innovation and success. No one person is an expert in everything. For example, a CAD or 3D modeling expert and a CAM expert might not be as well-versed in designing a PCB for the consumer electronics product they just designed and prototyped.

Digital collaboration opens avenues between departments, teams, and companies to achieve the same goal in a fraction of the time. After all, designing and manufacturing products doesn’t just happen overnight. Collaboration improves job satisfaction, keeps employees from leaving, promotes innovation, and solves problems faster.

The last few years have made one thing abundantly clear: collaboration, as a concept, can flourish in the office, but that’s not the only place it can take place. Remote (or at-home) collaboration is undoubtedly possible (and maybe, in some cases, even preferable!).

Digital Collaboration with Fusion 360

While the general idea of collaboration doesn’t change when you are working from home versus in the office, the methods of doing so change substantially. For many people, the shift to an at-home collaborative model in 2020 was a shocking (and even painful) one, because the systems and tools used by their company were not prepared for the transition to remote working.

Autodesk Fusion 360, on the other hand, was already prepared with cloud-based capabilities and continues to drive innovation in this area to this day.

Cloud software allows for real-time collaboration and concurrent engineering from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. With Fusion 360, you can send, receive, edit, revise, publish, and store 3D designs, documentation, prototypes, and much more. Multiple designers can work on the same project at the same time. This is beneficial in and out of the office.

Why would anyone want to go back to the days of drafting, designing, saving, downloading, and emailing a 3D file to someone else when you can do all that in Fusion 360 without ever leaving the application? These benefits are location-agnostic: they work whether you are on the road, at your home, or in the office.

Fusion 360 still allows you to download different file formats like STEP, DWG, DXF, OBJ, and more so that you are never limited when collaborating with people outside your organization. If you still don’t want to download files, you can use its administrative tools to grant permissions to people outside your team or outside your organization.

Whether you’re at home or in the office, Fusion 360 has you covered. Collaborate with whoever you want by downloading Fusion 360 today:
