Congratulations to Ján Franek, the winner of the Fusion 360 model of the month for September. Hear more about Ján and his gorgeous Polygon Coffee Table.
Hi my name is Ján Franek and I’m from Slovakia. I studied at the Technique University in Zvolen, majoring in woodworking and furniture production. I now work at a small furniture production company and make custom furniture on the side.
I began using CAD in high-school when I taught myself how to use AutoCAD. Soon thereafter I transitioned to Sketch Up in order design 3D models. After some time, I began a search for a 3D modeling tool that had good rendering capabilities. I ran across a YouTube video, where a maker much like myself, was using Fusion 360 to design a book shelf. I immediately began using Fusion 360 because it was so easy for me to draw my ideas and visualize them with Fusion 360’s rendering capabilities.
My inspiration for the polygon coffee table was a rose. As a woodworker, I like functional art so the only reasonable design option for me was to design a piece of furniture. I began by drawing some ideas on paper and after a few attempts I came up with the idea to create a rose design on the top of a table with polygons. And that’s it…a simple rose was transformed into a beautiful piece of furniture.
In the future, I hope to own my own custom furniture company to turn all of my ideas into a reality. You can see more of my Fusion 360 designs here.
