Congratulations to Aleksej and his prosthetic limb design. The winner of the Fusion 360 model of the month for Nomvember. Hear more about Aleksej, his design, and experience using Fusion 360.
Hi everyone, my name is Aleksej Gerlinski. I am 27 years old and am from Berlin, Germany. I recently completed a product design apprenticeship, and am studying Transportation Interior Design at Reutlingen University.
My previous CAD experience includes Maya, 3ds Max, Alias and Catia. Approximately a year and a half ago, a friend told me about Fusion 360 and I now use it exclusively. I am so surprised at how easy and fast it was for me to start designing. I typically sketch my ideas with pen and paper and then bring them to life in Fusion 360. The tool allows me to iterate quickly, exploring many shapes and forms. While at home or on the road, I am able to collaborate with my peers, and the cloud-rendering capabilities help to compensate for my computer’s lack of power.
I got the idea to model the prosthetic arm after playing a video game called “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain“ by Kojima Productions in which the protagonist uses a science fiction based robotic arm after losing his due to the impact of an explosion. I thought the arm was really cool looking, so I decided to create one of my own in order to improve my skills.
All in all Fusion 360 has everything advanced users need and is also easy and accessible for beginners. I can only thank the developers for this amazing program! You made the world of product development a bit easier.
