Learn about our strategy for the future of Autodesk EAGLE and where Fusion 360 Electronics fits into our vision for the design and manufacturing industries at large.
Changes are coming to Autodesk EAGLE, so we’d like to take the time to share our strategy with you. In the early days following the Autodesk acquisition of EAGLE, we openly spoke about our intent to bring electronics, mechanical design, and manufacturing under one roof. Our end goal has always been to give users what they truly need to tackle end-to-end product development in ways never before possible. Now, we are taking the next step toward making this vision a reality.
What’s changing?
Effective June 7, 2026, Autodesk will no longer sell or support EAGLE. Moving forward, we will continue to invest our energy in Fusion 360 Electronics.
The product design and manufacturing industries are constantly changing, and we are responsible for giving you the tools you need to succeed today, tomorrow, and in the future. To achieve a transition toward a comprehensive electronic design and manufacturing tool, we needed to incorporate the aspects that made you choose EAGLE as your go-to solution. And that’s precisely what we’ve done.
Coming directly from the team that has been with you since the early EAGLE days — we are confident that Autodesk has gone beyond what any of us could have expected, delivering on the promise to truly unite electronics, mechanical design, and manufacturing in Autodesk Fusion 360.
Next steps
The choice of when to migrate to Fusion 360 is yours, but we suggest moving sooner rather than later. As a note, EAGLE files are fully compatible with the Fusion 360 electronics workspace and EAGLE will still be available with new Fusion 360 subscriptions until June 2026. See below for the next steps depending on your subscription type:
- EAGLE Premium Annual Subscribers: Your current subscription will continue to give you access to EAGLE Premium. EAGLE will no longer be available after June 7, 2026.
- EAGLE Premium Monthly Subscribers: Your current subscription will no longer be available for renewal after March 26, 2024. EAGLE will remain available as part of an Autodesk Fusion annual subscription entitlement until June 7, 2026.
- EAGLE Standard Subscribers: When your subscription term is up for renewal in 2025, you will need to subscribe to Fusion 360. Autodesk Fusion with EAGLE Standard annual terms will no longer be available for renewal after March 31, 2025. We recommend a subscription to Autodesk Fusion that will give you access to Fusion 360 Electronics and EAGLE functionality until it is no longer available in 2026.
- EAGLE Free Subscribers: Fusion 360 for Personal Use is the suggested path forward. Fusion 360 for Personal Use is free and includes integrated CAD, CAM, and CAE functionality, up to two sheets per schematics, two Signal Layers, and a 80mm2 board area. If you’re looking for more, cost-effective monthly and annual subscription options are available.
- Fusion 360 Subscribers: If you already use Fusion 360, the learning curve from Autodesk EAGLE to Fusion 360 will be minimal. You are already familiar with most of the available commands and workflows. The biggest change? You will have access to even more features than before.
If your company currently has multiple EAGLE users, we encourage you to plan for and start migration with someone taking “point” or leading the process. This ensures a foundation is in place and others have someone they can turn to when they have questions.
3 key benefits of moving to Fusion 360
Transform how you design, manage & manufacture the products that drive your business throughout their lifecycle with –
- Seamless collaboration
Beyond collaborating with teammates, Fusion 360 enables collaboration with your extended organization, including those without CAD/CAM experience. Designs can be shared with colleagues and partners to improve communication and eliminate missteps often attributed to static printouts and outdated PDFs. Online viewers can add mark-ups to a design, leave comments, see exploded views, and more.
- Any-directional workflows
We understand that the product development process is almost never linear. A design often begins with a mechanical enclosure, sketch, or specification like PCI published in DXF/DWG, or even via a third-party tool. As such, Fusion 360 manages the synchronization at each stage of the design process. It also maintains relationships and manages dependencies with unprecedented synchronization and the timeline/history core to Fusion 360. What’s more, using tools like Edit-in Place, PCB parts can be moved within a complex hierarchy of assemblies and subassemblies, and changes can propagate in real-time with the click of a mouse.
- Revision history and change management
Every asset in Fusion 360 is tracked from the moment you start creating your library parts until the time you retire a product. Version control and change management ensure you are always working with the latest information and can track progress, revert changes, and maintain a history of your products and process over time. This unlocks a new level of accountability that makes it easier to identify bottlenecks, thus reducing your overall risk.
Thank you
We’re eager to work with you to make migration simple. Our engineering team—who most of you now know—along with our QA and community teams are all committed to making ongoing improvements to Fusion 360 Electronics with your needs as a top priority. By using Fusion 360 and providing feedback, you ensure that we will continue to build something truly game-changing.
Fusion 360 Electronics and the broader capabilities of CAD, CAM, and CAE are waiting for you. This is your opportunity to do far more than you would achieve with any other single piece of software.
