Inspired by The Acolyte’s new droid, Pip, Autodesk’s contest offers Star Wars fans and software enthusiasts the chance to design and make their very own droid – with the chance to win a trip to Lucasfilm headquarters in San Francisco.

There’s a new droid in the galaxy, and Autodesk is celebrating.

The highly anticipated Star Wars original series, The Acolyte, will introduce Pip: a chipper, handheld repair droid customized with a wide array of tool attachments, who’s always eager to help. Pip was developed by creature effects legend Neal Scanlan, Creature & Droid Creative Supervisor, who used Autodesk Fusion software to bring the lovable droid to life. To celebrate Star Wars Day and honor Pip’s debut in The Acolyte series, Lucasfilm and Autodesk are teaming up to launch a month-long droid making contest. Fans can go here to submit their own designs for a chance to win special grand prizes including:

• Mechanical Grand Prize: The winning droid will be fabricated and put on display at Lucasfilm in San Francisco, where the winner will get a VIP tour, as well as a meet-and-greet session with a Lucasfilm executive. The winner will also receive a fabricated or a 3D-printed version of their droid to keep.

• Animated Grand Prize: The winning droid will be digitally showcased at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank where the winner will get a VIP tour, a meet-and-greet session with a Lucasfilm executive, as well as a 3D-printed version of their droid to keep.
