Anywhere access to design data has transformed from a luxury to a necessity. Autodesk Fusion is at the forefront of this transformation.
In today’s connected world, the ability to work from anywhere has transformed from a luxury to a necessity. Autodesk Fusion is at the forefront of this transformation. It was built that way from the start, offering unparalleled project and data access that enhances flexibility, productivity, and team collaboration. This ‘anywhere access’ allows users to exceed geographical boundaries. It empowers remote or distributed product design teams to collaborate seamlessly and share data, regardless of physical location.
Fusion’s cloud-based platform ensures that all project stakeholders can access the most up-to-date version of their designs from any location with an internet connection. This capability is crucial for maintaining momentum and productivity throughout the product design lifecycle, mitigating challenges associated with time zone differences and logistical constraints. In office closures or natural disasters, maintained access to Fusion enables teams to transition to remote work without impacting project timelines or deliverables, showcasing the platform’s resilience.
Autodesk Fusion is redefining the possibilities in product design and manufacturing, making it the only solution teams need to succeed in the digital age.
Crucially, Fusion’s capability extends beyond online access to a trusted offline mode. This feature is indispensable for users across different time zones and geographical barriers, ensuring that productivity remains uninterrupted, even without a stable internet connection. The offline mode acts as a safety mechanism, allowing users to continue their work and maintain round-the-clock productivity, a critical aspect of the product development cycle or manufacturing that is often overlooked.
Sometimes the internet goes out or you’re on the road to a client meeting. Or you’re working with a geographically dispersed team where some members can’t always guarantee stable internet access. The scenarios are endless regarding why online-only access to your primary source of design and make doesn’t make any sense. This approach not only enhances flexibility and productivity but also ensures that collaboration in product design can thrive in today’s digital (and unpredictable) world.
Working offline in Fusion provides flexibility that accommodates diverse work styles and schedules. Whether dealing with unreliable internet connections or needing to work while traveling remotely, the offline mode ensures that project timelines stay preserved. Once you restore connectivity, offline changes synchronize with the cloud, ensuring seamless collaboration and up-to-date project continuity. This enables a smooth, continuous workflow and reduces the potential for errors or miscommunication.
Data continuity and accuracy are the foundation of Fusion. Beyond access to project data anytime, anywhere, Fusion is also at the forefront of data management tools. We recently launched a built-in bill of materials (BOM) experience that’s shareable, viewable, and exportable. A bill of materials is the listing of items that comprise a product and it includes details like item numbers, quantities, part descriptions, and progress stage.
This new tool within fusion surfaces BOM data based on your designs, so as a model evolves, the associated BOM will as well. Any change orders made offline will also automatically update upon a new internet connection. The Fusion BOM is available within the design environment for designers and engineers, and colleagues in other departments who need the BOM to support their job functions will have access within the Fusion web experience, further streamlining collaboration.
As businesses increasingly embrace remote work and global collaboration, Fusion’s capabilities in supporting continuous productivity and seamless collaboration, regardless of connectivity, remain essential. Fusion is not just leading the way in industry 4.0’s digital transformation needs but redefining the possibilities in product design and manufacturing, making it the only solution teams need to succeed in the digital age.
