Many printers have an auto-leveling capability which allows them to calibrate the height of their printer’s bed automatically. However, some printers do not have this functionality and require manual print bed calibration. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to use Autodesk Fusion to calibrate your FFF 3D printer’s print bed using the “Printer Bed Calibration” project in the samples folder.

This tutorial demonstrates this process using a project in the Samples folder in Autodesk Fusion. To access it, navigate to the CAM Samples folder and then to the FFF folder. Open the project named “Printer Bed Calibration.”

Since FFF printer beds come in all shapes and sizes, the first thing you need to do is enter the dimensions of your printer’s bed into the custom parameters dialog. This modifies your part to make it the perfect fit for your printer.

Next, navigate to the Manufacturing workspace, modify the setup, and select your printer and print settings. Finally, generate a toolpath and post processor to create your print file. Simply load this print file onto your printer and print it. Once the print is finished, you can take a look at the results and adjust the print bed level accordingly.

Now you know how to calibrate an FFF 3D printer’s print bed in Autodesk Fusion. Check out the official Fusion YouTube channel for more valuable learning content.
